Martine Barrat – The scope of her photography is global: it spans from the neighborhood of Goutte-d’Or in Paris, to the Caribbean islands, through Africa, Japan, and Brazil.
Nevertheless, the core of her work evokes Harlem, the anchor of her life since her arrival in the United States.
Her works in photography and video are conserved in the collections of MoMA, the Museum of the City of New York, the Whitney Museum, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, the Brooklyn Museum, the Lincoln Center Library, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, and the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris, as well as in numerous private collections.
