May 29th 2020 will see post-punk / noise-rock act HEADS. release their third full- length album, PUSH, via Glitterhouse Records.

Following their critically acclaimed 2018 album, Collider, the trio from Berlin and Melbourne continues to evolve their very own blend of noise-rock, post-punk and alternative rock in a sprawling soundscape – an experimental, wild, distinguished, radical and yet still catchy ride!

HEADS. upcoming album was recorded in Berlin by Kadavar’s Christoph Bartelt, while Magnus Lindberg of Cult Of Luna took care of the mix and mastering. Appearing throughout the record you will hear guest musicians such as Kristof Hahn (Swans), Matthias Feit (Radare) and Markus E. Lipka (Eisenvater). Now, HEADS. have shared a first appetizer with the drifting track Push You Out To Sea, featuring Matthias Feit on guest guitars and Rosa Mercedes of Kino Motel. Listen to the song HERE!

“Push You Out To Sea is a strange easy song. It doesn’t feel easy, but it is.“ Says vocalist and guitarist, Ed Fraser. “ It’s the idea that you can force things out if you choose to. It’s the moment where you consciously make the wrong choice, right at that point where you fully understand the result of your decision. You make the wrong choice because you have the option to. You hold on to the oars and push the boat out from the shore, you leave it to sail out and off the edge of the earth.

Chris and Nic’s bass and drums are astounding in this song, live it is an incredible feeling to play this one. On the record Matthias Feit of Radare played some really excellent guest guitars, and Rosa Mercedes of Kino Motel added some wild feedback in the middle section.“

Locked And Re-Loaded – Bootyard Bandits

Bootyard Bandits are back to get you through the hardship of isolation and quarantine! To celebrate the release of their brand new EP The Very Best Of Bootyard Bandits, which is out today, the band just launched an exclusive track Lockdown, available only on social media.

Drummer Bamm Bamm comments: “Well… I think we can all agree – Lockdown is rubbish and drinking is awesome. So we figured, in the absence of any live shows, why not write a song about both of those things!? We haven’t gone our usual route of taking our material to qualified professionals to make us sound good, coz we can’t. So, instead, we threw this little ditty together ourselves from the confines of our own homes. No swanky mixing, mastering or pro film crew. Just five idiotic cowboys and a couple of cats. We might record it properly one day. But in the mean time – watch, listen, enjoy and share with all your friends!”

In addition the band will do a series of fun virtual performances throughout the “lockdown” weeks. Full dates in the poster below. You can tune in via their social media channels.

Hailing from Worcester the country rock five-piece gained attention amongst the media with their hilariously gruesome Lego stop-motion video for the single Hoedown Showdown. The band already has great live experience under their belt having toured Europe with a 20-date tour supporting pirate metallers Alestorm and ambushed the UK as special guest to Massive Wagons. Their energetic live shows are fast gaining a unique reputation amongst the fans, with their Wild West elements in full display on stage and their characteristic soundscape blasted at full volume.

Thrashing It Out – Destruction

Last year, DESTRUCTION played a breathtakingly good show at the German PARTYSAN festival.

Fortunately, for everyone who was unable to attend, the thrash heroes recorded this metal party – and now, that the Covid-19 pandemic has crippled the whole live industry, the time has come to share this memory from a gorgeous show.

DESTRUCTION release their live album “Born To Thrash – Live In Germany” as digital version on May, 8th!

But that’s not the end of the story, to mark this memory for all their loyal fans, the band has launched an interactive map today where fans can sign in and mark the location of their first time seeing DESTRUCTION live.

The unique world map will become a part of the album. Everyone who participated will be mentioned by name on a poster that comes with the album’s physical version. John Carroll Kirby Releases Wind

John Carroll Kirby has shared a new single from his forthcoming album My Garden. The single “Wind” is the last track from new album and is accompanied by a new video directed by Michael Flanagan

Flanagan directed the “Wind” video via a FaceTime call during the lockdown, with Kirby using a green screen in his studio to execute his instructions. The song, a sleepy yet lucid composition, was inspired by Ethiopian nun and piano player Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou. John explains: “My friend told me a story of the first time he heard Guèbrou, that a desert wind drifted through the room as he fell into a half-sleep. I tried to conjure some of that energy here.”

On making the video, Flanagan explains, “I wanted to take that half-awake, half-asleep transitive state and convey that with the visuals. John’s approach is so fluid and playful with time – and I tried to match that in the edit, smearing and layering movement across the track. The idea was to make a piece that follows the experience of listening to the song rather than projecting a prescribed narrative on the viewer.”

My Garden, which was written, recorded and produced entirely by Kirby, is a pure distillation of his sound — soulful, spiritual, and evocative. Demonstrating perfectly why Kirby is the go-to collaborator for artists ranging from experimental auteurs Bat for Lashes and Connan Mockasin to pop megastars Harry Styles and Kali Uchis, and R&B innovators Solange and Frank Ocean, My Garden is a testament to the clarity and singularity of Kirby’s vision.

Singles already released from My Garden include “Blueberry Beads” and “By The Sea”. Last week Kirby also shared the piano album Conflict, a collection of instrumental pieces spontaneously released for free in response to the escalating global crisis, with the hope that it might help fortify the listener and induce inner calm.

Digging Deep – Marlin’s Dreaming

New Zealand indie outfit Marlin’s Dreaming released their third single, “Alike” for their forthcoming album, Quotidian released next week, April 24.

The video premiered exclusively with American Songwriter who comment: “Set to a dreamy landscape of floating melodies and upbeat, jangling riffs, “Alike” taps into the light and dark side of this person’s mind. It’s an indie pop melody of split personality.”

Quotidian will be released early next week with singles and videos from the project receiving praise from CLASH, Brooklyn Vegan, Variance, Atwood Magazine, Glide and more.

Lead singer and guitarist Semisi Maiai had this to say: “Alike is our most zestful single – very guitar and vocal driven. I wanted to personify two different characters, the bleating high pitched character, and the dark, arrogant character. Both characters are people in my life that… I guess piss me off enough that one day I decided to write about them – or should I say write for them. We wanted a big soaring chorus for this song, so we really layered the vocals in the chorus to make the melody thick. I guess sort of an optimistic, catchy song, but digging deeper, I find that what it’s actually about slightly disturbing.”

Marlin’s Dreaming are a young band hailing from a cold, damp flat in Dunedin, New Zealand. In October 2017, just a couple of months after forming, Marlin’s Dreaming released their first body of work, Lizard Tears. It was an eight song mix of indie pop tasters, and one reworked track from frontman, Semisi Maiai’s, former band GROMz. The album reached huge popularity across streaming platforms worldwide, and transitioned into two sold out tours of New Zealand.

In 2018 Marlin’s Dreaming released their second body of work, Talk on Commic. The EP retains the wry humour of Lizard Tears, but is less mannered; a darker beast with 90’s fangs evoking many of the post-punk greats. This EP received support from popular Spotify and Apple playlists and Youtube Channels.

2019 proved to be another successful year, doing support slots with Kirin J Callinan, The Chills and Ocean Alley. They also managed to fit in three headline tours of their own, including 2 sold out runs in Australia.

Best known as a member of grindcore gods NAPALM DEATH, Shane Embury has been one of the underground rock and metal scenes’ most prolific and inventive figures over the last 30+ years, with countless intriguing (and generally deafening) bands and projects to his name. But a new decade brings a new perspective and a brand new musical venture that takes the revered noisemonger into uncharted territory.

Emerging with an extraordinary debut album that is guaranteed to blow minds, DARK SKY BURIAL marks the moment in Embury’s artistic life where all restrictions and boundaries are obliterated forever. The title comes from a book by Soren Kierkegaard. The philosophies in there just seemed to resonate with me. It all seems very apt for our current predicament!”

Breaking Down The Demons – The Dust Coda

The Dust Coda is thrilled to announce the release of the brand new video “Demon”.

“Demon” is an upbeat rock number, steaming with raw energy: the perfect track to keep the fans rocking during the lockdown. “Demon” shows a band confident in their writing skills, this track is all rock ‘n’ roll but never predictable: the stomping rhythm and the catchy riffs create the perfect setting for the gritty vocals and distant blues-ey echoes.

“Demon” follows the release of “Breakdown” a track that displayed the band’s path toward a more mature song-writing: a classic hard rock anthem, with nothing obvious about it.

The Dust Coda showcase their best live. Throughout the years the band collected a wealth of experience performing alongside the likes of Iron Maiden Steve Harris’ British Lion, super-group Dead Daisies and American legends Black Stone Cherry.

Diet Cig will release their second full-length, Do You Wonder About Me? on May 1 via Frenchkiss Records, now they reveal the album’s lead single, “Who Are You?”.

The New York Times took note of the band’s Alex Luciano’s vocals declaring, “the sweet clarity of her voice riding verses that seethe and rumble with a ferocity that harks back to the Who” and today’s single showcases that same dichotomy of “sweet” and “seething.” Of the track the band notes, “‘Who Are You?’ is for anyone who’s ever received a completely self-serving apology from someone who’s hurt them. I learned that healing doesn’t wait for an ‘I’m sorry’ to appear, and it can feel silly to have one arrive when you’re completely over it. This song takes these bad feelings and turns them into a fun upbeat jam to dance around in your kitchen to!”

Diet Cig is Alex Luciano and Noah Bowman. They’ve been compared to tornadoes, firecrackers, and lightning storms, and described as genuine, unapologetic, and down-to-earth. Do You Wonder About Me? is the follow-up to 2017’s critically acclaimed Swear I’m Good At This. The new record marks a more intentional, self-assured Diet Cig; not only in Luciano’s radically intimate, acerbic lyrics, but in the duo’s sound as well. Luciano and Bowman moved to Richmond, VA in the summer of 2017 as a place to “hide out and make music,” and it was there that they wrote Do You Wonder About Me?, Diet Cig’s ode to growing up.

The duo have spent a good portion of their past 5 years in a tour van and are anxious to once again hit the road. Their originally scheduled dates around album release have been rescheduled for later in the year due to the pandemic – their first UK show will be November 18 in Bristol at Rough Trade.
