LA-based alternative singer-songwriter ANSON is releasing the new single “Runaway” off his upcoming debut album “a note for you to find…” on October 23 via We Are Triumphant.

Of the track, ANSON says, “I wrote “Runaway” in early 2019 after a pretty long day of grinding it out at my day job. For me, this song is about the longing for more in my life that I rarely voice on the day to day. The dream of running away from the mundane in search of something better. To follow my dreams and not wither away in the hustle of just staying afloat. I think we all get a little lost in our lives and forget the goals that we started with. This song is an ode to that and a hope to one day break the system.”

Regarding the upcoming album, he explains, “a note for you to find…” is a collection of songs I wrote over the course of the past 4 years. These songs stem from some of the toughest moments in my life when I was in very dark places. Some songs come from my uncertainty of our society; questioning our social system and my life. Some come from difficult past romances where love turned into turmoil. Ultimately I hope people can relate to this album with their own hardships and can take comfort in the fact that we are all not alone with these feelings. “

Arizona Ghosts – This Modern

Phoenix, AZ alternative rockers This Modern have just released their new single “Next Time Around.” The song is now streaming on all digital platforms via Atlanta-based label 59 X Records.

Of the new single, vocalist Marcus Reardon says, “The lyrics are designed to be more sad and reflective, while the instrumental is there to uplift you and make you move- it’s a style of writing that we’ve worked a long time to nail down. The goal was to create something anthemic, but beautiful.”

Drummer Sean Whiteman adds, “The instrumental was inspired by a Cemetery Sun song, “Piece of Shit.” We’ve been listening to a lot of their music in the studio lately.”

For the video, the band selected the location of Jerome, AZ because of its unique frozen in time, ghost town aesthetic. The clip communicates the belief that even in the face of a global pandemic, it’s a mental choice to let a bad situation totally consume you.

Vocalist Timo Willsey says, “Given the ongoing socioeconomic inequality, a paralyzing pandemic, inept government, ecological decline, sick social norms and general culture in decline, people are either depressed or in denial. We keep making music to cope, to hope, to love, and to change.”

As the band prepares to throw the party at the end of the world, “Next Time Around” is a welcomed invitation and reminder that misery loves company.

In speaking about their recent signing to their new label, Reardon adds, “It’s been our dream to sign with a label who understands our vision and wants to grow with us. We’re excited to have found that in 59 X Records.”

“High risk, high reward” is the founding vision for Phoenix-based, This Modern. Blending melodic pop-rock with modern hip-hop, the 3-piece takes aim at a new identity, carving out a place for their own in an oversaturated industry.

Despite the global pandemic, This Modern has had an eventful 2020, releasing their single “Better Off,” which appeared on Ghostkiller Entertainment’s Emo Never Dies playlist and achieved over 10,000 streams in its first few weeks.

The group also provided direct support to Canadian alt duo and JUNO award winners, Neon Dreams, on their first regional US tour prior to the United States shutting down due to COVID-19.

“Next Time Around,” is the first single off the group’s new EP due out in 2021. The song captures the internal struggle and uncertainty around turning the page in the next chapter of your life. In a world plagued with injustice and corruption, This Modern is prepared to set the record straight and pave a path forward for fans to be in control of their future, even if that future is bleak. “This track is the cathartic hope that we all have for another chance,” says songwriter and producer, Timo Willsey.

The story of Ascension of The Watchers… In early 2002 Burton retreated to the quiet, simplicity of rural Pennsylvania for seven months with his friend and musical confidant John Bechdel, escaping the onslaught of Los Angeles, and industry alike. A mentor in music, philosophy and demeanour, Bechdel unwittingly guided Bell along the creative path of this new conceptual movement.

With Burton’s unprecedented vocal sound and style, coupled with the brilliantly orchestrated musical compositions of both Bell and Bechdel (synonymous with pioneering tags to the industrial/metal genre) The pair began experimenting with textured melodies of melancholic tones, best attributed to the 80’s and 90’s underground scene. Ascension of The Watchers echoes the sounds of a prophetic hallucination, fears and dreams with remorse of things lost and forgotten; but with a hope of redemption and light in the future.

In 2004, Ascension of The Watchers independently released – Iconoclast, printed only on CD and vinyl to a limited number.

In 2008, with the help John Bechdel and Paul Raven (RIP), Burton brought Ascension of The Watchers to Ministry legend Al Jourgensen’s label, 13th Planet. With the guidance and special collaborations with Jourgensen during the recording and mixing in El Paso, Texas, AoTW added the guitar talents of Eduardo Mussi. It also featured Paul Raven’s last contribution as a bass player on the track Mars Becoming.

In 2008, Ascension of The Watchers’s debut LP, Numinosum, was released through 13th Planet. Upon release, AOTW performed special, intimate shows, including the album release performance at Alex Grey’s Chapel of Sacred Mirrors in NYC. They also had the honour of supporting Killing Joke for their reunion tour in honor of their fallen friend, Paul Raven.

In 2017, the friendship between renowned UK solo artist Jayce Lewis and Burton brought in the essential camaraderie, talents and studio that perfectly suited the recording of Apocrypha.

Northstone Studios, based in the countryside of South Wales, connected to the 250 year old Court Colman Manor, the studio built by Lewis’ own hands using the ancient stones of the monastery that once stood there, the rustic detail proved a perfect setting for AoTW’s very own Jayce Lewis to record, produce and mix the Apocrypha album. A recording process that literally stirred the souls that remained within the stone walls of Northstone Studios. During the vocal recordings of the title track, a recording was inadvertently captured from the aether; an eerie, unrecognizable and untranslatable, syllabic phrase whispered within the vocal booth. The event is now the intro to the title track, Apocrypha.

In truth, the making of Apocrypha has been a decade long journey of writing and recording, from California, Pennsylvania, New York and Wales. In 2018 the band decided to utilize the crowdfunding platform PledgeMusic to jumpstart the project. After a very successful campaign, raising 124% of their goal, PledgeMusic went into administration, eventually declaring bankruptcy! and in turn, would never release any of the funds dedicated to Ascension of The Watchers. Nevertheless, Ascension of the Watchers persevered to complete the album.

After ten years of writing and recording, along with reflection on the very personal nature of this project, Ascension of The Watchers will renew its journey in 2020, with the culmination of the long awaited release – Apocrypha.

With plans of conceptualized touring, Ascension of the Watchers continues to grow as Bell’s main creative endeavor, well into the future.

Following the success of his first single “Born to Ride” (currently with over 250K views on YouTube), Country rocker Manny Blu offers another peek into his upcoming EP New Ink, with the release of a third track, “Sink,” now available, following a premiere on Raised Rowdy yesterday.

The infectious new song is written by Josh Osbourne, Ryan Tyndell(Eric Church, Jon Pardi), and Matt Jenkins (Florida Georgia Line, Old Dominion, Kenny Chesney), and is now available to stream or purchase HERE. New Ink will be available Nov. 13th and is now available for pre-save or pre-order HERE.

Produced by Aaron Eshuis (Cole Swindell, Rascal Flatts), “Sink” is a catchy track about hitting the bottom of a bottle while “watching it all go down the sink” after a difficult breakup. Despite the theme, “Sink” delivers a driving country/rock sound fuelled by a dynamic bass line that brings a steady groove throughout as Manny’s gritty vocals cut through with the storyline. “The energy of the song doesn’t really match the sadness of the lyrics, which I thought was a pretty interesting plot twist!” Manny shares, “It was actually the song I was most nervous to record. You have to do a song like ‘Sink’ justice every time you sing it, so I wanted to get it right and I love how it turned out!”

With his amplified mix of country twang and rock & roll attitude, Manny brings his rebellious outlaw vibe to country music, creating an original sound that makes room for his blues and rock upbringing. Warner Music Nashville/Atlantic Records recording artist Devin Dawson has just announced the January 15th 2021 release date for his upcoming The Pink Slip EP (Pre-order here).

To celebrate the news, the acclaimed singer/songwriter also shared brand-new track “Range Rover” today (LISTEN HERE) from the six-song project. Fast Track A Slower Pace – Andrew Farriss

Acclaimed songwriter Andrew Farriss has been busy. With the planned release of his debut album globally at the end of this year, he was gearing up for a massive 12-months on the road.

While COVID-19 might have thrown a spanner in the works of those plans and pushed back the release of his long-player into 2021, Andrew has never been the sort of man to sit idle. Knowing that music fans were looking forward to hearing his new music, he made the decision to fast-track the release of his EP – originally slated for release around 2022 – and is excited to share Love Makes The World with music lovers worldwide today.

Love Makes The World is actually a pertinent release for the current time. Its focus is on human relationships and the world around us, drilling into what is really important – the relationships between people and how we interact. Something that has been highlighted as the world takes a step back and reevaluates life during these COVID times. While the EP was planned for release after Andrew’s debut album, he had already been working on it over the past decade and felt that all the songs came together effortlessly to create its own body of work.

“When I was first creating the EP, I realised the song titles were creating their own EP,” says Andrew. “All the lyrics tie in together, and that was where I decided which songs would be the most powerful on there. I do believe that the pandemic has taught people a lot more to focus and slow down the pace of everything, appreciate time with family and look at things that matter the most. It feels like the right time to be putting this out. I am really excited because now we have the opportunity to share this music. It has ended up a bit backwards-and-forwards ironically, but it feels right.”

Andrew is well known within music circles. This year he was honoured with a Member of the Order of Australia (AM), acknowledging his considerable contribution to music. Across his career with INXS, he has shared 50 million records, Grammy nominations and an induction into the ARIA Hall Of Fame. Outside of INXS, he is an Australian Songwriter’s Hall Of Fame inductee and has written and produced songs for a plethora of Australian and international artists. Andrew released his debut country single, ‘Come Midnight,’ last year, aptly demonstrating his versatility as a songwriter and endearing him to country music fans. His follow-up single, ‘Good Momma Bad‘, which he debuted at Australia’s Tamworth Country Music Festival in January, helped cement Andrew as a formidable presence on the country-roots scene. With the release of his Love Makes The World EP, Andrew continues exploring his country roots, incorporating elements of folk, as well as some contemporary and experimental influences, to create beautiful storytelling ballads.

The EP was recorded across Andrew’s home studio at his New South Wales farm, and the Beaird Music Group Studio in Nashville. The songs were written between Australia, Nashville and London. The songs tackle themes such as belonging, mental health and suicide, love, conservation and the evolution of humankind. Andrew is sensitive in tackling the hard topics, from the emotions invoked from the birth of your first child, to the feelings of loss after losing his best mate to suicide, he pens emotive musical tributes that will resonate with music fans for a myriad of different reasons. For Andrew, writing the material has been cathartic and the perfect opportunity to continue to explore different songwriting styles. The EP features co writes with Suze DeMarchi, Ciaran Gribbin, Guy Chambers (Robbie Williams) and Jon Stevens.

“I have always seen myself as a songwriter more than anything,” he says. “Being the main songwriter in a band as talented as INXS, with a superhuman frontman such as Michael, it was a songwriter’s dream. The lessons that I took for writing for INXS into my own career, is that maybe I can do things a little bit differently. I don’t mind not being pigeonholed. I am not interested in that; I appreciate all genres. I don’t think you have to necessarily stay in your little box and behave yourself. I think working with people outside your comfort zone is great for the future of music, that is what makes great change in music.”

Scraping Off The Rust – SPEAR OF DESTINY

Spear of Destiny have recreated and re-imagined the now classic 1985 top 20 hit ‘WorldService’.

With Kirk never being happy with the sounds and mix on the mid 80s original., this is an altogether different affair. Massive drums, guitars and voice coupled with wonderful keyboard sounds and real soulful brass take these amazing sounds to dazzling new heights.

The original recording of this album was done in 1985. It was produced by seminal DJ Rusty Egan of The Blitz/Visage etc fame. He was brought in at my behest as no one, either management of band could agree on a producer.

Rusty produced what many have said is a classic album of Spear songs, both press and fans alike.

You could say why re-record what is a a classic album from the 1980s. You’d have a point. But, it has been my intention to re record this set of songs much more in line with what I feel they were originally written for, much more of a rock album, as opposed to a pop/rock album.

With the original recording there was a lot of compromise, which to my mind today, meant the albums worth of songs was never done the justice it deserved. I’m not trying to re write the past, I’m trying, and I believe we have succeeded, in doing this album justice, finally, to how it was meant to sound. I can only thank my long standing band members, for helping me to achieve this with their sympathetic ears. We have played songs from this album for decades and I knew on this occasion, we would all step up to the mark with its re-recording. The proof is in the pudding.

Country star Lee Brice takes his current radio single, “One Of Them Girls,” to the #1 spot on the US Billboard and Mediabase country airplay charts this week, making this Brice’s 8th #1 hit, third #1 in a row, and fastest-rising radio single to date.

Fresh off the announcement of his latest album, Hey World, and his #1 hit with Carly Pearce, “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” Brice’s current single “One Of Them Girls” rises to the top of the charts, claiming the #1 spot on both the Mediabase and Billboard charts this week.

“This song was embraced by both fans and radio from the get-go… it has flown,” says Brice. “We felt there was something special about it on the night we wrote it and to see how it has resonated is such a blessing and humbling. We are over the moon!”

Brice has 11 consecutive RIAA single certifications along with multiple gold and platinum albums, has taken 8 radio singles to number one, performed as part of the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song honouring Garth Brooks in 2020, and is just getting started.

His upcoming album, Hey World, is set to release via Curb Records on November 20th, 2020, with the title track, “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” and “One Of Them Girls” already available.
