Eric Miko Findlay is a professional drummer from the beach cities of Los Angeles.

A Founding member of alternative emo group, Seahaven, the lion- share of his career revolved around writing, recording, and touring off their efforts.

On the road straight out of high school; ten years later Eric is a touring professional & studio drummer, gracing stages in numerous countries on countless tours worldwide.

Seahaven is releasing a new record “Halo of Hurt’”out Nov. 20th via Pure Noise Records

Findlay’s playing is described as unsparing, hard hitting rock- veneered in hip hop & dub inspired intricacies. In 2016 he started getting attention from other artists and discovered new fortunes, claiming “there’s no better satisfaction than playing with musicians cut from a different cloth” – “I’ve been blessed with a musical palate that loves all, anything I’ve ever heard flows through my drumming. It makes for really eclectic sessions or gigs regardless of genre”.

Music Knox Records/BBR Music Group’s Tim Montana has officially announced his new EP, Cars on Blocks will be released tomorrow, November 20th.

Friends of the Country Rocker have shared in the excitement of the news—Hollywood bad boy Charlie Sheen, Josh Brolin (yes, Thanos himself), Thomas Jane (The Punisher), and more created videos sharing their elation.

To celebrate the EP’s release, Montana will appear on FOX & Friends on Friday to perform “Do It Fast,” marking the project’s TV debut. The fast-paced song, with its “go big or go home” energy was written in tribute to Tim’s pal and X Games champion, Travis Pastrana as well as fellow Butte alum, Evel Knievel. Cars On Blocks is Montana’s label debut, having recently been singed to Music Knox Records/BBR Music Group. The four-song EP is an ode to Butte, Montana and his trailer park upbringing. The title track (inspired by his childhood home, which still has the wheels on it) and “River Kids” both paint a clear picture of the blue collar Butte life, with “Stronger Than You,” and its apocalyptic melody, displaying the grit acquired from that existence. Produced by award-winning producer, Michael Knox, the EP is Country—but don’t mistake it for southern.

Montana shared a post on his Instagram about the EP, highlighting his relationship with Knox. As evident by the slew of celebrities joining in on the announcement fun, Tim has a heart that draws in everyone, from the famous to the blue collar. It’s led him to strike up long-lasting friendships and partnerships with an eclectic cast, including fellow artists, extreme sports athletes, war heroes and actors.

During the pandemic, Montana tapped his notable circle of friends (Charlie Sheen, Lee Brice, Chris Kirkpatrick, Michael Ray, Chase Rice, Travis Pastrana, to name a few) for the video for his and Mat Best’s song “Quarantine” (3.7m+ views to date). While humorous, the song is Country with a Rock edge, just like Montana himself.

Joining the BBR Music Group roster is only the latest in Montana’s long list of accomplishments. In addition to starring in his own show, “Tim Montana’s Wild Side” on Velocity Outdoor Channel, Tim has also found a great deal of success as a businessman. With their fifth album “The Inevitable Relapse”, their third for Dependent, Fïx8:Sëd8 are taking the final step from a band with a huge buzz to an established force within the electro industrial scene. The band’s name is derived from the psychiatric terms “fixated/sedated”.

“The Inevitable Relapse” may be taken as a nearly prophetical title as the album has been conceived for the most part during the global pandemic. More Than Crooked Ballads – Bobby West

A native of North Liverpool, Bobby West grew up in the suburb of Anfield. His first foray into music came by forming the band Broken Men, a following grew quickly leading to tours of England and Russia, and later Europe, supporting Echo and The Bunnymen.

West now embarks on his debut solo project. His meticulously crafted songs paint authentic depictions of his world; a dark gritty world he ruthlessly laments, yet like a man in the gutter reaching for the stars Bobby gilds the edges of his reality, creating something truly beautiful.

‘All My Years’ was formed after his writing partner showed him a rough demo consisting of just some chords on a Hammond organ with a glockenspiel melody over the top, and has gone on to become the template for everything he and his band have come to create.

“My initial thoughts were that it sounded like a lullaby, and that it would fit with a poem I had recently written for my girlfriend (apologising to her for being a miserable git).
It was one of the earliest ideas we actualised in this project, so it has been central to creating the sound of everything else we’ve done since.”

Bobby’s lens is tinted with a sun-drenched glow, a stark contrast to his surroundings; a paradox that echoes in his music. He sings of terrible things in beautiful melodies. Like a council estate Sinatra, his golden vocals self-deprecate in alluring harmony. There is a rare authenticity within West’s nouveau croon.

All Hail – IRON MAN

Argonauta Records has proudly announced the release of a live album by Maryland Doom Metal legends IRON MAN. Originally formed in 1988, IRON MAN became one of the most distinctive doom metal bands of all time, not just for paying excellent tribute to godfathers Black Sabbath but with their very own blend of heavy sounds.

IRON MAN toured the world with bands like Cathedral and Pentagram, released unforgettable classic doom masterpieces, and left a huge gap in the world’s music scene when the group disbanded in 2018 after the passing of their founding member and guitarist, Alfred Morris III.

2014 saw the iconic band at the height of their powers, when they performed at the Castle of Doom Festival in Pagazzano, Italy on July 5th. It was IRON MAN‘s first (and only) trip to Italy.

“This was Iron Man at its most powerful, and I think that Al would be thrilled with this release. Performing at this festival in Italy was a huge triumph for him, and to see the show preserved like this would make him very, very happy.”

As a tribute and monument to Al, Argonauta Records will release this memorable live moment by IRON MAN, titled “Hail to the Riff”, as a limited 2LP edition featuring one previously unreleased studio song on March 5th 2021. In support, vocalist Dee Calhoun created a haunting video to “As the Gods Have Spoken”.

Al’s daughter, Alana Morris, shares some touching statement about the music legacy of her father and the upcoming live album:

“I am so grateful to Argonauta Records for making a tribute album for my dad. What an honor, considering Iron Man started out as a tribute band to Black Sabbath, I know he would’ve never dreamed someone would be doing a tribute to him. The Type of person my father was, he never expected anything huge. He just enjoyed doing what he loved. Music was in his blood; part of his DNA and he wasn’t complete without it. He was open to all genres of music and receptive to all types of people. No matter who you were, if you asked him to jam with you, he would ask you ‘when and where’.
As long as I can remember, Iron Man was a large part of my dad’s life, and mine. My first rock show? My dad’s band. The first live show I ever saw was Iron Man. Watching my dad perform, I saw him transform. He had this amazing stage presence. An effortless grace when he played guitar that was mesmorizing. Even though I had seen him play a thousand times, I was always impressed!
I was never really interested in playing the guitar, oddly enough. Probably because I was satisfied enough just by watching my dad play, but he is the reason I play the bass and violin. I started playing the violin first and a few years later, my dad bought me a bass for a Christmas present. I was familiar with the bass because it’s similar to the violin as far as the string set up, but with the way my dad taught, he definitely helped me to develop my playing ability. Some of my favorite memories involve him and I jamming out together, either with him on guitar and me on bass, or me playing the violin part while he played the guitar part to Dust In the Wind. I believe these would have been some of my late mother’s favorite memories of us as well.
I am beyond words about this record being released in 2021. I am so excited and my heart is so full, knowing how much people admired and loved my dad. I will be anxiously awaiting the release, and I know Argonauta Records will release one AMAZING record! With the crazy year we’ve all had in 2020, I know this will certainy help usher in a new year with positive vibes and some incredible and timeless riffs!”

Demanding Attention – Palaye Royale

Notorious Alt Rock triumvirate of brothers, Palaye Royale, have dropped their most grandiose and cinematic music video to date for the sweepingly dramatic, Bond theme-esque track “Tonight Is The Night I Die”. Starring in the deliciously dark, gothic vampire thriller alongside the band are Nadya Tolokonnikova of Pussy Riot, actress Amanda Steele and recording artist De’Wayne.

Obviously COVID-19 was a big concern when on set for the video shoot so, not only was every member of cast and crew tested prior to being allowed on set, in an industry first, Palaye Royale partnered with Light Strike by Xenex who sent their amazing sanitization robots to the set to sanitize everything every 30 minutes and keep everyone safe using their patented Pulsed Xenon UV light system that produces UV across the entire germicidal spectrum.

“Tonight Is The Night I Die” is taken from The Bastards, the highly acclaimed third studio album from the Palaye Royale brothers. The song was recently used as the soundtrack for the teaser trailer for hotly anticipated TV series Paradise City which also stars Amanda Steele and for which Palaye Royale frontman, Remington Leith, recorded all the vocals for the lead character, Johnny Faust, played by Andy Biersack.

The track follows a string of hugely popular singles – the infectious “Hang On To Yourself”, fuzzy, distorted brit-pop infused “Nervous Breakdown”, anti-gun violence anthem “Massacre, The New American Dream”, the heartbreakingly relatable “Lonely” and the bombastic, industrial tinged banger “Anxiety”. The musical dexterity showcased on THE BASTARDS demonstrates just how far the band have grown as songwriters, rounding out their already accomplished arson with flourishes of electronics, metal beat-downs, drum n bass beats and haunting string arrangements. There are singles on the album, luminous highlights, but it’s also a piece of work that works beautifully when listened to as a whole.

Lyrically, the album addresses a number of important issues, prevalent to today’s youth – struggles with mental health, the gun violence epidemic, substance use as a means to escape a difficult reality and parental abandonment all play a part in the album’s rich lyrical tapestry. Speaking on the band’s refreshingly honest and open approach to writing on the new album, Remington adds:

“We need a little honesty and a little truth. The world is getting so tainted by everyone trying to be so fucking perfect and so goddamn PG and trying to walk this line of not trying to offend anyone. People need to be themselves, just for 20 minutes at least.”

An extraordinary process – LOW ISLAND

Following the release of Low Island’s first single in over a year, featured on the FIFA 2021 soundtrack, and supported by Lauren Laverne, Jack Saunders, Phil Taggart, Huw Stephens and NME, the band release a stunning animated music video for Don’t Let The Light In.

Using a unique combination of risograph printing, 3D animation and artificial intelligence (GANS), the video is directed by New York-based director and artist Danaé Gosset (Mitski), with additional 3D design and animation by Danica Tan (Bright Eyes) and character animation by Farrah Silberman. Exploring the song’s themes of trying to capture memories, and inspired by the movement of Pina Bausch, the video is a cyclical loop; a moment preserved. We see a woman dancing, undisturbed and unaware as the environment around her changes. From a field, to an ocean, to cars passing around her, nothing will come in the way of this moment in time.

Speaking of the video, Posada says: ‘we got in touch with Danaé after we’d seen the beautiful work she had done on Mitski’s video ‘A Pearl’ - we spoke about the themes of the song; of trying to capture and preserve moments in time, and also how the artwork for the track was inspired by Wim Wenders’ film for Pina Bausch - out of that was born the idea for the video. It’s been amazing learning about the process of animation and watching the video come together; we feel so lucky to have been able to work with Danaé and the wider team, and couldn’t be happier with the result.’

Speaking of the process, Gosset says: ‘Don’t let the light in is a music video which was initially created in 3D. All the frames were then worked through a 2D color separation process and sent to a risograph printer: an imperfectly beautiful printing technique which originated in Japan. The frames were then scanned, and finally sequenced back in the computer to make the final music video. All the set transitions have been created using Artificial Intelligence (GANs).’

The track itself was recorded in rural France where the band spent a large chunk of this year, renting a barn and locked down together to allow them to continue writing and recording music.

‘DON’T LET THE LIGHT IN’

As well as working on new material, they spent their time in France learning everything they could about the music industry and, like so many artists, working out how to survive in the post-Covid landscape. Out of this was born their own label, Emotional Interference, allowing them to fully take the reins over their own destiny. Accruing a “small-scale production company’s worth of stuff,” from across their career, and with the ability to create their own light show, produce and conceptualise their own videos, and record and produce their own music – as well as having the music industry know-how to handle their affairs – Low Island have become a DIY machine.

Recent recipients of PPL’s Momentum Grant, Low Island is made up of singer and multi-instrumentalist Carlos Posada, producer Jamie Jay, bass player Jacob Lively and jazz drummer Felix Higginbottom. Their off-kilter electronics have been lauded by NME, Wonderland, The Independent, The Times, The Line of Best Fit and more. Their last EP featured in 6music’s Lauren Laverne and Tom Robinson’s highlights of 2019, and was accompanied by a critically acclaimed UK tour in collaboration with Arts Council England. In September, Toronto’s Hannah Georgas released her latest LP, the Aaron Dessner-produced All That Emotion on Dessner’s label Brassland (Bartees Strange, Buke & Gase) and Toronto indie stalwart Arts & Crafts.

The album was the best-received entry in her career to date, earning a wave of positive attention from outlets like The Guardian who called the album “magisterial pop for introverts,” Mojo, Uncut, Observer, Sunday Times Culture, Pitchfork, Clash, The Line of Best Fit, NPR, The New York Times, FADER, Stereogum, Gold Flake Paint, Secret Meeting, among many others. Today, Georgas is sharing a new version of a track from her album that she co-wrote with Dessner called “Pray It Away,” performed as a duet with The National frontman Matt Berninger.

The collaboration was born from the friendship Georgas and Berninger developed when Georgas joined The National’s touring band when they were on the road in support of their album I Am Easy To Find last year, though it did not come together until this summer. On the track, which concerns living with the prejudice within families, Berninger’s brooding baritone provides a perfect compliment to the Georgas calm tones that unwind over Dessner’s softly glowing synthesizers.

"In a lot of ways, All That Emotion is a personal record but Pray It Away ended up being very collaborative. I co-wrote the song with my producer Aaron Dessner, who sent me an instrumental during the time I was writing and demoing. A close friend of mine inspired the lyrics. She told me over dinner one night that a family member didn’t want to attend her wedding because she was marrying a woman. I wrote the song the next day using the chord progression from Aaron’s demo. It was upsetting to see my friend go through what she was dealing with at a time where she should have been celebrating. While Aaron and I were recording this song together, he mentioned it could be really great to ask Matt Berninger to sing on it. Ironically, it wasn’t until the pandemic hit when we were actually able to follow through with this idea, together. It’s so lovely it all worked out and we were able to make it happen in the end."

The song plays on the themes of cultural polarization that seem to be ripping apart our politics, our families, and our world. Says Georgas of the track “Whether it’s ideology, gender norms, homophobia, racism, sexism, or your dreams and ambitions in life…I hope this song brings comfort to those who have felt they have been dismissed for who they truly are. I hope it poses questions about what faith is about, exactly, and how it can tear us apart at moments where we should be celebrating togetherness.”

Berninger also says: “This song is one of my favorites off Hannah’s new record, so I begged Hannah to let me sing it with her. Turns out sometimes prayers are answered.”
