Soul-Shaking Stomp – Danko Jones
Heralded by the raucous lead single “I Want Out”, “Power Trio” — the 10th studio album from Toronto rock juggernauts Danko Jones is set to arrive on 27th August 2021. The full-throttle album will be released via the label MATE IN GERMANY (excluding North America).
“Power Trio” sees Danko Jones delivering each engine-revving riff, soul-shaking stomp, and shout-it-loud hook with a sniper’s precision. It’s such a simple, self-evident title, but one loaded with significance, as it speaks to the special triangular alchemy Danko shares with his trusty bass-slinging accomplice JC and drummer Rich Knox. It also stakes out the band’s place on a storied lineage of three-piece titans Jimi Hendrix Experience, ZZ Top, Rush, Motörhead, Venom, Dinosaur Jr., and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, to name a few.
When you choose to start a power trio, you’re not simply forming a band, you’re entering a blood pact—a tacit acknowledgement that all three members need to carry their equal share of the weight lest the whole enterprise collapse. There’s nowhere to hide in a power trio—no second guitarist to cover your mistakes, no keyboard player to smooth things over, no horn section to distract the crowd. If you fuck up, the whole band fucks up. Everybody needs to be on their A-game at all times.
“Power Trio follows” the band’s electrifying, world charting album “A Rock Supreme”, released in 2019. It also sees the band once again tapping into the production prowess of Eric Ratz, who previously amped up the bone-breaking boogie of 2017’s full-throttle rocker Wild Cat and 2015’s blood-lusty Fire music.

Going Deep – SC.Undercover
Entitled “Deeper Love” the song is a combination of soothing acoustic guitar and velvet R&B vocals. The record draws on feelings of intimacy and sensuality. Providing nostalgic tones from the days of traditional R&B and acoustic Pop.
Walsall UK born artist SC.Undercover started creating music as a way of escapism from the darker periods of his early life. The mysterious and sometimes flamboyant crossover artist blends characters and influences of indie, dark pop and R&B, offering something distinctly unique in today’s industry.
SC.Undercover
His highly anticipated new single “Deeper Love” follows directly on from his previous releases “Darkness Before Light and Morals.” SCU tells the story of an intimate and close connection with the song he explains “I wanted to encapsulate the old school R&B vibe that I grew up with and this record is totally stripped back and intimate.”
“Deeper Love” highlights his impressive falsetto vocals, songwriting capabilities and knack for creating catchy records of various genres.
"Deeper Love"
Also delving heavily this year into songwriting for other artists and producers in the UK and US, SCU’s music is a beautiful juxtaposition with upbeat dance/pop melodies complimenting the darker lyrical undertones of his previous work. Instantly recognisable, SCU has crafted an unmistakable sound.
Hoping to help others overcome their own struggles with mental health, SCU wants to share his experiences, shining light on a subject very close to his heart using his music as a platform to reach wider audiences. Having performed to sold out audiences across Atlanta and at home in the UK, as well as garnering acclaim from publications, SC.Undercover is labelled as an artist to watch.
A Life Ever Changing – TONYB.
TONYB. is a singer/songwriter from Nashville, TN. Heavily influenced by 90’s and early 2000’s R&B, he credits his range of musical and vocal dynamics to the likes of Aaliyah, D’Angelo and Usher
His latest endeavor is his new 18-track deluxe version of his acclaimed album Flashing Lights. Created between Nashville and Los Angeles over the last few years TONYB. has amalgamated a collection of sonic stories of coming into adulthood. TONYB. explains the overarching themes of Flashing Lights sharing, “It’s a symbol of how life is ever changing and not everything will always be clear. Even in some of the challenging moments, even when everything is dark, you can still find the light.”
TONYB. Flashing Lights
Covering an incredibly in depth tunnel of experiences and emotions, we get an insight into the vulnerability and raw, honest truths of TONYB.. The album ranges from more dance-worthy tunes such as “Take a Loss” to more emotional, delicate songs such as “Angels.” Overall the aura of Flashing Lights is a rich soulful, alt R&B delivery, composed of stunning vocal runs and an emporium of synths, drums and bass.
Leading single “Worst Way” is a collaboration with female artist Paris Laná. “Worst Way” was added to Spotify’s Best of 2020: Fresh Finds: The Wave (R&B) editorial playlist and has racked up close to half a million streams alone. Singing, “I want you back in the single worst way,” both artist’s vocals merge together effortlessly, combining their silky voices. “Worst Way” absorbs many sonic layers, emitting trap-like R&B claps, hi-hat heavy beats and an underlining pulsing, deep bass. The soft popping of the synths add a dream-like atmosphere to the tune, shimmering with so much complexity in both the lyrics, production and structure.
Included in the deluxe album is the new single “Serious.” Featuring harp-esque flares, heavy R&B beats and harmonic vocals, the track blurs into an all encompassing sound. The tropical synths precipitate soft, juicy feelings while the hook is the definition of catchy. “Serious” narrates the depth of a connection, oozing with emotion and passion.
A Legendary Mix – TOOTS AND THE MAYTALS
Ahead of the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards where Toots and The Maytals are nominated for Best Reggae Album, Trojan Jamaica continue to honor the late and legendary Toots Hibbert with a stellar remix from Samantha Ronson and Pete Nappi of ‘Freedom Train,’ a fan favorite, taken from his latest critically acclaimed, GRAMMY nominated studio album Got To Be Tough.
Toots was a giant and his music will live on, longer than all of us, and we are honored to have been asked to contribute to this project,” said Samantha Ronson.
The track and Henry Stein-directed music video premiered today via FLAUNT Magazine, and is out on all digital platforms from today via Trojan Jamaica/BMG.
Released on August 28 via Trojan Jamaica, Got To Be Tough was his first studio release and come-back album after almost a decade following an accident in 2013 which prompted him to shy away from public life and releasing music altogether. However, thanks to the encouragement and belief from co-producer Zak Starkey and label co-founder Sharna Sshh Liguz, Toots made a welcomed return this summer with one of the greatest reggae albums of our time, which has since been nominated for Best Reggae Album for the upcoming 63rd annual GRAMMY® Awards.
The 10-track collection –produced by Toots, with co-production from Zak Starkey, Nigel Burrell and Youth, and with additional production and artwork by label co-founder Sharna Sshh Liguz– has received critical acclaim around the world from outlets like Rolling Stone, MOJO, Spin, Pitchfork, and even prompted The Big Takeover to call it the “finest album” of the beloved artist’s career — no small feat for a man who already earned the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album with 2005’s True Love, and yielded more than 30 number one hits in Jamaica alone over the course of his 60-plus years in the business. The group’s 1968 single “Do The Reggay” was the first song to use the word “reggae,” naming the genre and introducing it to a global audience. Never allowing age to slow him down, “Fireball,” as the tireless bandleader was lovingly dubbed, remained a touring institution and prolific songwriter until his final days.

Brothers In Arms – ALLUVIAL
ALLUVIAL’s second full-length album, “Sarcoma”, examines people’s connection with pain and the hardships that bind us.
“Sarcoma is a type of cancer that grows from connective tissue in the body,” says guitarist Wes Hauch. “At the end of working on everything, Kevin [Muller] pinpointed that each song on the record was about the different perils that happen at the hand of one man to another. These perils live in our connections to one another, so ‘Sarcoma’ became an apt title.”
As Hauch began writing the record, he took notice of Muller due to his time in SUFFOCATION. After hearing his vocals on a demo, everything simply clicked, and Kevin joined the band. Fast brothers, it fulfilled a long-term goal. “‘The Deep Longing for Annihilation’ was supposed to have vocals, but I couldn’t find the right guy,” he adds. “Some people possess a rare inability to doubt themselves. Kevin can marry that into performances. The day I heard his vocals over the ‘Sarcoma’ demos was a special one. We’ve become brothers.”
After writing and producing demos at home, ALLUVIAL cut guitars, bass, and vocals with engineer John Douglass (MR. BUNGLE, AMON AMARTH) in Atlanta. The opener ‘Ulysses‘ begins with warm guitar echoes before building towards an ominous crescendo. It quickly crumbles under the weight of a thrash riff and brain-rattling growl.
“I was always in trouble in my small hometown,” Hauch says. “After going to a county jail, I joined the military and took orders as an Equipment Operator bound for the US Naval Mobile Construction Battalions. The enlisted side of the military are all misfits of one kind or another. Because of this, it’s really a continuation of high school. The military continued raising us, for better or worse. In 2005, I deployed to Iraq and convoyed throughout Baghdad for seven months. If you were in Iraq from 03 to 08, it was generally pretty bad. Because of that, I wouldn’t call my experience in Iraq “unique,” it was just a hot time over there. If you convoyed, you were gonna get shot at, and you were gonna deal with IED’s. If you were in a camp, you were gonna get mortared. If you were infantry and you were kicking down doors, god bless you, you were gonna have it the worst out of anyone. ‘Ulysses’ is a glossary of my hindsight on that experience.”
‘Ulysses’ is a taste of what’s to come from a band that’s already proven themselves before. They’ve set the stage for their next onslaught, “Sarcoma”, armed with some of the most vicious, technical riffs and merciless vocals that metal has to offer.
“Sarcoma” tracklisting:
1. Ulysses
2. Thy Underling
3. Sarcoma
4. 40 Stories
5. Zero
6. Exponent
7. Sleepers become giants
8. The Putrid Sunrise
9. Sugar Paper
10. Anodyne
Living Life To Its Fullest – Granger Smith
Chart-topper Granger Smith, leader of Yee Yee Nation, last night released the chilling new music video for his current radio single “Hate You Like I Love You.”
The single is taken from his recently released 10th studio album, Country Things, and the video follows almost a month to the day the single went to US country radio. Directed by the highly regarded director TK McKamy (Thomas Rhett, FGL, Wiz Khalifa, and many more), this music video is unlike anything Smith has ever released and is another example of Granger’s multifaceted talents that never ceases to amaze his peers and fans.
"I love making music videos," says Smith. "I’ve been very lucky to have made a couple dozen and each have been special in their own way, but this one was very different! It was my first all night shoot, first car wreck set, first significant special effects video and first without any singing performance. I’m blown away with the amount of people and preparation that went into this crazy video! I’ve heard a few people say, 'You’re acting is really good!' I laugh. No, no...it was 19 degrees and that uncomfortable look was just me freezing on set!"
The video is full of symbolism and features Granger and his stunning wife Amber as the lead and only characters. Starting off with a car crash, symbolising a heart-wrenching break up, Granger battles between saving himself and pushing away nostalgia of his previous relationship. Fighting the reality with subtle reminder of the love lost, Granger attempts to set fire to the past, but can’t seem to stop following the love he once knew. Guaranteed to give the viewer goosebumps, this video portrays the battle of trying to get over the love and attempt to “Hate You Like I Love You.”
“Let go like I hold tight / Sell myself a bad lie / Whatever I gotta do / Girl I’m just tryin’ to hate you like I love you…”
With lyrics like this, Music Row says, “Tuneful and hooky. This extremely well-written breakup song sung with heart sure sounds like a Big Hit to me. Play it.” People also rightfully dubs this track a “fan-favorite” as the single has already organically accumulated 15.6 million on-demand streams to date and is Granger’s number one streamed song daily, surpassing his smash hit “Backroad Song.” The song title “Hate You Like I Love You” may sound like a contradiction, but it really makes perfect sense. They say the opposite of love is not hate; it’s indifference. Hate is actually a close relative of love. It takes the same passion and the same extreme emotional effort to hate as it does to love. This song shows the struggle of turning love into hate as a last resort to get over an unreciprocated love.
The announcement of the single “Hate You Like I Love You” came on the of heels of the successful release the Country Things album, and has already received critical acclaim. According to Billboard, the single is a “standout track” and Wide Open Country says “Smith has a knack for writing songs that are incredibly easy to sing along with and ‘Hate You Like I Love You’ is no different.”
Granger’s music is just one part of his many-sided life. He has his own outdoor apparel company called Yee Yee Apparel in which they have been able to donate over $250,000 to various charities they feel passionate about with the revenue generated from this company. From his family YouTube show “The Smiths,” to well-known alter ego Earl Dibbles Jr., to his No. 1 book “If You’re City, If You’re Country,” to his Granger Smith Podcast, to his hero-honouring documentary “They Were There: A Hero’s Documentary,” to his work with The River Kelly Fund, the chart-topper continues to build a brand synonymous with those who cherish hard work and those who want to live life to its fullest.

Not A Fucking Psychopath – MVSSIE
Sacramento, California singer/songwriter MVSSIE released her newest single titled “Monsters Under My Bed” to all digital outlets today. The single was produced by Kevin “Thrasher” Gruft (Escape the Fate).
“Two words: real. life.
Life is messy and beautiful but there aren’t enough artists talking about it. Massie creates music to connect people through real life experiences. She opens a dialogue about the things no one wants to talk about: struggle, heartbreak, anxiety, pressure, self confidence, worth, and even love, excitement, well-being, comfort, and recovery.
Music has always been therapy for Massie, through her darkest hours and her most incredible life experiences. Massie hopes to make people FEEL something by capturing those real life emotions and experiences in her music” says Mvssie.
She continues, “I think we have all been in a place where we don’t want to face reality. We don’t want to make a decision because we are afraid of what the consequences might be. I wanted to capture that anxiety in a simple and raw way anyone could relate to. How I pictured that anxiety was being a little kid, scared of monsters under my bed because who hasn’t had that overwhelming fear. Unless you’re a fucking psychopath.”
Mvssie is a singer/ songwriter from Sacramento, CA. Hailing from a diverse background of musical endeavors, she is gifted with a wide vocal range, from smooth airy melodies to driving edgy choruses.
