Increasing The Riffage – A WILHELM SCREAM
Creator-Destructor Records is ecstatic to be giving the deluxe vinyl reissue treatment to three albums from New Bedford Massachusetts-based melodic hardcore outfit, A WILHELM SCREAM.
A WILHELM SCREAM presents reissues of three of their fan-favorite albums: Mute Print (2004), Ruiner (2005), and Career Suicide (2007). Originally released on now defunct Nitro Records, the Bay Area’s Creator-Destructor Records has stepped in to reissue all three titles with four different colored vinyl variants per album. Some variants have sold out already and the rest are selling quickly.
Additionally, renowned artist Dave Kloc has introduced new exclusive re-imaginings of each album’s artwork/themes which are being printed as new shirt and merch designs.
A WILHELM SCREAM
Ben Murray from Creator-Destructor Record states, “The members of A WILHELM SCREAM have been good friends of mine since around 2010 when I first toured with them on the East Coast. Since then, I’ve had the honor of sharing the stage with these guys many times and getting to know them as the righteous folks that they are. I couldn’t imagine a more genuine group of people. To say the very least, it feels like their songs have been in my DNA since 2004. It’s truly unreal to have them on the label, a weird full circle thing for me, and I couldn’t be more grateful for these dudes. Tons of awesome things in the works. Stay tuned and thank you all for the support!”

PLEASE NOTE: This is the last weekend to pre-order, as the sale ends on Monday, April 5th!
A WILHELM SCREAM is widely regarded as one of the best, most impressive top-tier punk rock bands to emerge in the last twenty years. Like their counterparts in Propagandhi and Strung Out, the band has a knack for upping the tempos, increasing the levels of riffage and metal-inspired technicality, and consistently blow people’s minds with their unique brand of complex song structures and intensely personal lyrics that have had fans screaming their lungs out at lives shows across the world for nearly two decades now. A WILHELM SCREAM has spent their career touring heavily all around the world botho headlining on their own accord, as well as supporting punk giants like NOFX, Strung Out, Pennywise, Hot Water Music, The Lawrence Arms, The Descendents, and many more.
Following the three now-reissued LPs on Nitro Records, the band released an eponymous EP via Paper + Plastick in 2009, followed by their latest LP, Partycrasher, released through No Idea Records in 2013.
A WILHELM SCREAM is currently in the process of writing the follow-up LP to Partycrasher now, with more news on the record to be issued over the months ahead.

New Aggression – Illumination Road
From the quiet mountains of the California high-desert, this 4-piece assembly of artists known as Illumination Road is indeed, a rock band but also a collective of successful, dynamic creatives with their very own production world on a 140 acre ranch in historic Pioneertown.
Consisting of established songwriters, producers, multi-instrumentalists, filmmakers and engineers, the group is a new look at the modern way “bands” can create and exist. With their own production company, recording studio, record label, endless natural film sets on site and incredibly original talent they’re able to produce endless creative content from the comforts of ‘The Ranch’.
Lead vocalist, songwriter and guitarist, Chris Ayden combines the love of classic artists like The Beatles, Bob Dylan and Bob Marley with modern characteristics all his own. His truly soulful guitar playing and vocal style lends itself to emotional blues but with the aggression of new rock.
Producer, guitarist, bassist and engineer, Chad Shlosser has shared the studio and stage with some of music’s biggest names (Fleetwood Mac, Steven Tyler, Jackson Browne, and The Used, among countless others) and brings that level of production into the fold. It’s the Pioneertown Ranch that Chad calls home and hosts the studio where the band creates all of its catalog.
A multi-instrumentalist, Greg Cahill hails from the beaches of Southern California and brings a host of musical talents that has defined the sound of the band. He covers guitar, mandolin, Hammond, piano and Rhodes with a style all his own but hinting at his love for classic folk, Americana and soul.
Producer and drummer, Michael Johnson brings massive experience ranging from being a world-touring musician of platinum acts to producing records of all genres and scoring award-winning films. His style and creativity reaches across all mediums and shows during his powerful performances on stage and on camera.
The four call themselves Illumination Road and 2021 will see the launch of this new project with a hard-hitting first set of songs set to release in Spring alongside a collection of stunning music videos.

Shlosser tells American Songwriter: "The Modern World" has been through a few production steps before we landed here. Chris [Ayden] and I had taken it from a very progressive rock type of track and attempted to simplify things and focus on the vocals. We then sat in the studio with our dear friend, Matt Sorum (Guns 'N Roses, Velvet Revolver) who worked on the arrangement with us which pulled the whole thing into focus. A bit more production and the addition of Greg Cahill on Hammond and piano and Michael Johnson on drums and we felt we totally nailed our sound that is now stretching across the entire album we're finishing up right now". Regarding the accompanying music video, he adds, "The video for this song came together really only because of our amazing filmmaker friends from Silver Sky. We had a rough concept in mind but they came in with the last minute vision and miraculously knocked out the shoot in a single day without sacrificing any artistic value. I think each shot is so provocative and beautiful and lends so much to what we were feeling with it. We're fortunate enough to have our home base be Escape Studios in Pioneertown, California (@escape) and wanted to showcase the beauty of this land that inspires it all so we shot the entire thing here. Shout out to the visionary, Rocco Gardner for that!"
Squeezing It Out – KORPIKLAANI
Finnish folk metallers KORPIKLAANI are one of the hardest working bands in the business. Two months after the release of their acclaimed 11th studio album Jylhä, they’re putting out a series of nicely filmed playthrough videos for a handful of their new songs. A few weeks ago, a drum playthrough for the song ‘Verikoira‘ marked the beginning. As of today, you can watch Sami Perttula rip through the track ‘Huolettomat‘ with his accordion.
Sami Perttula comments on the song ‘Huolettomat’:
“‘Huolettomat’ is the product of a long process and I recorded the first ideas for this song a couple of years ago. My idea was to make a stereotypical Korpiklaani folk metal song, and pick up the juiciest parts that touched me the most when I was first introduced to the genre: energy, a good sense of melody and an uplifting rhythm. Once again the whole song went trough my bandmates’ filters and it wouldn’t exist in such a cool form as it does on the album now if it wasn’t for them. Big thanks to them again for putting a lot of effort into this song!
KORPIKLAANI
‘Huolettomat’ can be translated as ‘the careless’ and the lyrics are by Tuomas Keskimäki. In the story, “the carefree” secretly party on an island, partying like it was their last day on earth. ‘Today is today, tomorrow is uncertain’. In one review the song has been described as ‘Hakuna Matata’ by Korpiklaani and I kind of like that description.
Special thanks for the video go to media student Aleksander Grönvall who represents the younger generation of producers in Finland. With his motivation, professionalism and effort we got a chance to serve this video to you, so enjoy!”

Adventures In Islington – Sonata Arctica
Finnish melodic metallers Sonata Arctica are a band with a unique sound, touched by a hint of melancholy. Today, the band announces the release of their first acoustic album, Acoustic Adventures – Volume One, to be released in October 2021 through Nuclear Blast Tonträger Produktions. Acoustic Adventures – Volume Onewill be followed by a second acoustic record, to be released in 2022.
Vocalist Tony Kakko explains, "This acoustic form of Sonata Arctica has been slowly brewing for years. The first manifestation of it, besides the few acoustic versions of songs released throughout the years, was the Acoustic Adventures Tour in 2019, which proved to be a great success, sparking an idea to get these songs recorded and on an album. Our songs have always been based on beautiful melodies, which makes it very easy to transform and rearrange them perfectly into the acoustic form as well. I should mention that many of the songs work so well dressed in acoustic garments. I hope you love these albums as much as we do. There are many, many songs we had to leave out of these Volume One and Volume Two albums, so nothing would please me more than adding a few more volumes in the future. Looking forward to seeing you on tour again as soon as possible!"
This tour is due to take place this autumn, titled the Acoustic Adventures MMXXI tour. To promote their Acoustic Adventures – Volume One release, the band will embark on a journey through 17 European countries, including a date at London’s Islington Assembly Hall on November 1st. Support will be provided by Swedish band Eleine, who will also be presenting an acoustic set.

Gargantuan Stoner Doom – HEAVY TEMPLE
Psychedelic doom live-deluge HEAVY TEMPLE have released the first crushing single ‘The Maiden’ taken from their highly-anticipated forthcoming album debut “Lupi amoris”, which will detonate stores on June 18.
HEAVY TEMPLE comment: “This is the second of a pairing of songs, the first of which, The Wolf’, is written from a different perspective”, reveals singer and bass player High Priestess Nighthawk. “There is essentially a call and response between the two songs. It is game of cat and mouse. Or wolf and maiden, if you will. These two songs revolve around the idea of meeting and subsequently falling in love with someone, so it seems appropriate to have both sides of the story. I wrote ‘The Maiden’ first, and the idea for complimentary lyrics came to me one day when I was listening to, oddly enough, ‘Indian Love Call’ by Slim Whitman. I promise that there’s no yodeling on this one. Well, maybe I wild o that on our next record.”
HEAVY TEMPLE crash forth like a roaring mastodon in a thunderstorm with their first official full-length, “Lupi Amoris,” and it has all the markings of a landmark record.
As progressive as BARONESS but unselfconscious, as heavy as FU MANCHU but more adventurous, this Philadelphia trio throw every lever in the riff-metal machine, yet also wield lyrical concepts that register on literary levels.
“Lupi Amoris” offers a one-way trip through wide-open spaces and deep forests. Its songs wind and deposit heavy flotsam like a mighty musical stream, pushing through swirling rapids, cutting through riff-mountains, and swelling with addictive grooves. Riding atop the sonic waves, singer and bass player High Priestess Nighthawk belts powerfully over the roaring din.
When HEAVY TEMPLE came into being on the 2012 winter solstice, the trio were after the pure fun and joy of playing heavy music, illustrated by each founding member’s chosen nom de guerre: High Priestess Nighthawk, Rattlesnake, and Bearadactyl.
At first playing shows locally in Philly, the band quickly gained an excellent live reputation, leading to tours alongside RUBY THE HATCHET, MOTHERSHIP, ROYAL THUNDER and CORROSION OF CONFORMITY. Invitations to notable festivals included The Maryland Doom Fest, Psycho Las Vegas, and Decibel Metal & Beer, among many others. It’s an impressive live showing made even more remarkable when considering that HEAVY TEMPLE have yet to release their debut full-length.
After their first self-released and self-titled EP “Heavy Temple” (2014) was picked up by esteemed German cult label Ván Records, the self-released single ” Love You To Death ” and sophomore EP “Chassit” followed in 2016. Second single “Key & Bone” arrived in 2018, and the split 7″ “From the Black Hole” with WOLFBLOOD materialized in 2020, but it took until 2021 for a full album to appear on the horizon at last. It speaks volumes about HEAVY TEMPLE‘s talent and face-melting live impact that the invitations to attractive tours and prestigious festivals continued to roll in anyway.
Although HEAVY TEMPLE leverage all the trappings of traditionally male-oriented metal (to the point that their sound could proudly sport a full beard), the powerful presence of frontwoman and sole remaining founding member High Priestess Nighthawk merges their glorious heaviness with a strong thematic line of feminine strength.
“Lupi Amoris” is Latin for “Wolves of Love,” and takes strong inspiration from Angela Carter’s story “The Company of Wolves.” In it, the narrative of Red Riding Hood is flipped from a cautionary tale about the dangers of lust and desire, feelings young women were traditionally expected to stifle, to a story of female sexuality and power reclaimed. “Lupi Amoris” finds the Philly outfit aligning with a Red Riding Hood who is freed from the traditional bonds of what’s expected.
Proving that it’s quite possible to hammer out gargantuan stoner doom and still say something about life’s realities, HEAVY TEMPLE make a fierce and much-needed statement with “Lupi Amoris”, and at these volumes, the world is guaranteed to hear it.
