He teams up with Haich Ber Na, one of the most promising emerging artists out of the UK, and Shay Lia, Kaytranada’s protégé who’s based in Montreal. Resolutely pop, while naturally incorporating some glitchy French Touch vibes, the track is sonic sunshine and perfectly suited to soundtrack summer barbecues and fire-pit get togethers in the months ahead.
we’ll soon be dancing together again.
The track comes with a music video (directed by Baptiste Penetticobra) that captures the track’s hedonism: a 24 hour dance marathon where the last dancer dancing wins. It’s a delightful display of pure joy and an ode to a time when we’ll soon be dancing together again.
Track Of Time is Busy P’s first official release since 2017’s Genie feat. Mayer Hawthorne, which has racked up 10 millions streams. The track will live on an upcoming EP from Busy P, slated for an August release, which will include not one but three remixes from NY legends Masters at Work, among others.
"Like Rakim used to say - “it’s been a long time!” - 4 long years since I released “Genie”. So many things happened, and of course the last few months probably accelerated the need to enjoy some studio time. Ed Wreck studio is back! First thing to come out of the basement is “Track of Time”; a way to express this feeling of being lost in time, in space... but most importantly it’s a summer song, thinking ahead, dreaming of dancing in clubs again”.
Busy P
Busy P is slated to play a DJ set at this Ed Banger label party in Paris on July 3rd. He’ll be joined by some other heavy hitters from the label including Gaspard Augé (from Justice), Myd, Breakbot & Irfane, Bonito Boy among others. If you happen to be in France, grab tickets here.
The Lounge Society – who met at their local high school in nearby Mytholmroyd (otherwise famous as the birth-place of poet Ted Hughes) – explore a raucous sound. It’s a sound shot through with the adrenalized and undeniable youthful surges that informed both proto- and post-punk, with The Velvet Underground, Talking Heads and Fat White Family cited as shared influences. On their debut EP Silk For The Starving there’s a rawness which belies a self-assured songwriting slickness that is almost alarming for four teenagers.
This is music that follows a strong north-west lineage
In tracks such as “Cain’s Heresy” and their pulsing, paranoid reverb-laden debut single “Generation Game” (released as a limited edition seven-inch on Speedy Wunderground in March 2020) there’s a sense of the anthemic too. The latter track, with its “What will the US do?” tag-line was bursting with so many ideas it was split over two sides of the same piece of vinyl. One reviewer remarked on it being a collision of Beta Band ambition, Fat Whites rabble-rousing and early Roxy Music sheen.
“Burn The Heather” struts with brittle A Certain Ratio/Tom Tom Club-style funk and takes its title from the annual local ritual burning of the moor-top heather by the rich rural landowners for their lucrative grouse-shoots (and which those down in the valley blame on causing frequent flooding), while also recycling a line from a Lawrence Ferlinghetti poem.
The complex spikey prog-punk arrangements of “Television” meanwhile, most recall the band for which the song is named, but with the type of ragged groove that Happy Mondays might have stuck on for hours in their early garage days.
This is music that follows a strong north-west lineage whose roots reach deep into Manchester’s past, yet without ever once resorting to nostalgia. It’s future-facing. Elsewhere there’s plenty of sardonic sloganeering akin to Mark E. Smith were he lost in the rolling news of Twitter feeds that tell of corrupt presidents, useless Prime Ministers, race hate, rising debt, online trolls, empty celebrity culture, poisonous ideals and the general sense that the Western world is in a tailspin freefall towards complete disintegration.
Make no mistake, this is the sound of young England: articulate, enraged and energised. And – perhaps crucially – highly danceable too. It should give hope to anyone who has lost faith in the future. The Lounge Society make a strong case for ones to watch through 2021.
The Lounge Society are: Cameron Davey (vocals/bass), Herbie May (guitar/bass), Hani Paskin-Hussain (guitar/bass) and Archie Dewis (drums).

Recalling the glory days of pop-punk, Summer Years’ powerful rhythms, melodic guitar parts, and meaningful lyrics are rooted in the classic sounds of bands like Blink 182 and Jimmy Eat World, but with a modern edge.
Pre-save Summer Years’ first single ‘This Light’ (out July 9) HERE: https://orcd.co/thislight
"Summer Years is rock music. Pop & punk rock-infused music, but at its core, it's for anyone who likes to rock and enjoys lots of melody. We definitely operate with the energy and big rhythms of a punk band, but I think we will always be accessible to anyone. Kids who are just getting into guitar music or who have never listened to pop punk! I think our music is for everyone. Even soccer moms. Haha."
Nick Lanari
Upcoming show:
June 26 Carlsbad, CA @ Gnarlywood
Clifford is now back with a new single ‘Där spriten flödar‘ release June 25th via Despotz Records.
After the release of Clifford’s Saga about pandemic-era Sweden with the song ‘En svensk jävla tragedi’ they continues with the heavyweight track ‘Där spriten flödar‘ (Where the booze flows). The whip cracks across the anti-vaxx movement and their resistance towards Sweden’s comparatively mild restrictions. At the same time the government gets roasted for their arbitrary lockdown rules. But there’s also a desire for a return to normalcy: beloved pub, open thy gates!
The band recently released their single “SHEEP” to all digital outlets. The single is a fresh take on the band’s trademark sound with melodic guitars and dark tendencies. It showcases their ear candy intros and face melting guitar riffs, while still clinging to their heavy transitions and breakdowns.
"We are super excited! It’s surreal to play with legends in the game like Sevendust and Tremonti that we look up to. Can’t wait to show the people what we have to offer on this tour! Make sure everyone knows the party starts early!

This concept record, released on June 11th, features the electro pop rock band’s successful leading singles “girl in blue”, “every word”, “touch”, and their most recent track “more than a friend”.
“Our debut album ‘echoes of a dream’ tells the story of a toxic love that does not end in tragedy. Our two characters red and blue represent the heart and the mind as they grow together and overcome their demons. Human beings are not perfect, they cannot be put into one box. They change, evolve, and ultimately grow. Red and blue are no different. Two vessels intertwined through fate. Reminding the world that it is never too late for a change and anything remains possible.”
Steven Blake, vocalist
Formed in 2015, Animal Sun is led by brothers vocalist/songwriter Steven Blake and drummer William Alton who both originally played small clubs along the east coast. By late 2017, they started appearing on local radio and opening for bands such as The Frights (Epitaph) as well as minor touring throughout the region. After establishing a fanbase, the two moved to Los Angeles where they would meet keyboardist/percussionist Tyler DeCastro and bassist Adam Gardner.
Their single “girl in blue” was released in June 2019 and quickly made its way onto alternative stations such as idobi radio. The success allowed the band to play to packed rooms including the legendary Troubadour. Then, in June of 2020, they released the single “Still Believe” which premiered on American Songwriter.
In recent months, the band has been dropping more singles from the album in addition to “girl in blue” including “every word”, “touch”, and “more than a friend”. While “girl in blue” has over one million streams, “touch” has placed at #2 on KROQ’s Locals Only up against artists such as Billie Eilish and Tessa Violet featuring lovelytheband.
Animal Sun’s debut album ‘echoes of a dream’, released on June 11th 2021, is a work of art, a concept record that tells a love story between two dynamic characters while reminding us anything is possible.
The heavy, experimental project of Gehring (who also plays guitar in Mae) Demons dropped their latest album ‘Privation,’ on April 30 via Spartan Records
Demons' Zach Gehring says, "We are playing our first show in over a year this Friday, so we wanted to share this video from the last show we played back in March of 2020 with DOA and Dead Kennedys at the Norva." Of the album's title, Gehring explains, "(it's) concerned with loss, deprivation, and lack, In our context -- this is reflective of where we are at personally, culturally, and politically. It's a structural aspect of our lived experience -- and it is particularly aggravated of late.”
Drawing from the spirit of bands like Metz, Gulch, Converge, Propagandhi, the Demons crew (the aforementioned Gehring, Chris Mathews [vocals/guitar], Jonathan Anderson [bass], Drew Orton [drums]) punishingly delivers ten tracks of raw and confrontational fury, motivated from within a spiraling sociopolitical landscape that evokes critical self-reflection and frustration
“Something happens to all of us at some point in our lives when we start noticing the cracks. We start realizing that we care about what somebody else thinks. That we want to belong and be accepted, and we’re scared we won’t be,” Townes says about the new song. “We start measuring our worth against everything else around us. Childhood innocence doesn’t just wait around. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. But the wonder? I think that’s always a part of us if we want to remember it.”
Townes wrote “Girl Who Didn’t Care” with David Pramik and Steph Jones, and with its release on June 25th, Townes begins the next chapter of her artistic career, almost a full year to the day, from when she released her debut album The Lemonade Stand(June 26th, 2020), an album that most recently was awarded the Country Album of the Year at the 50th Annual JUNO Awards.
In addition, The Lemonade Stand received glowing mentions from Billboard, People, Rolling Stone Country, American Songwriter, Paste, Forbes, as well as earning Townes performance slots with artists Miranda Lambert, Alan Jackson, Dierks Bentley, and Little Big Town. She will join Brothers Osborne this summer and fall for their We’re Not for Everyone Tour.
It’s a hazy, sun-kissed daydream of R&B-tinged alt-pop that showcases her unique sound while echoing the modernist pop of Billie Eilish, the production flair of Frank Ocean’s more soothing moments, and Lana Del Rey’s nostalgia for the recent past.
Written and produced in her bedroom studio, ‘Cool Kid’ finds Cathy channelling a topic that speaks to her generation: insecurities rooted in questions of identity and the realisation that people often aren’t how we perceive them to be.
“‘Cool Kid’ is about how so much of our time is spent trying to project images of ourselves to others, and how we define other people by projecting our own emotions onto them. I wanted it to have a laid-back vibe, this time with hints of R&B and hip-hop. It's a late summer evening by a river."
