Transviolet – Coming To Destroy You
Transviolet Releasing New Track “Love and Power” on August 12 – On Tour With Mother Mother and Sir Sly This Autumn.
LA modern indie pop band Transviolet will release a new single titled “Love and Power” on August 12.
Lead vocalist Sarah McTaggart says, "Love and Power is about a toxic relationship with a skewed power dynamic. Itâs a retelling of the âGirls Your Ageâ story without the rose-colored glasses. Several years ago I might have told you Girls Your Age was a love story, but I wouldnât call it that anymore. I was 16 and he was 24. I needed to retell this story in the most brutally honest way possible for my younger self. Because, thereâs still a part of her, of me, that thinks itâs her fault- that she asked for what happened, that she was seductive and precocious, and that this grown man couldnât have resisted her. In reality, she was alone in the world, scared and manipulated by someone who knew exactly what he was doing. No one talks about the part of grooming where in order to survive the abuse psychologically, the victim often becomes the pursuer. In my mind, he couldnât cross any lines if I crossed them first. In my mind, I was in control of the situation. I think I needed to believe that in order to survive."
“Love and Power” follows the recent release of the track “Destroy Destroy Destroy.”

Miss May I – The Highs And Lows
Miss May I gives us the newest single from the upcoming Curse of Existence album.
Curse of Existence, the seventh studio album from MISS MAY I, explodes with the life experience of an established band, the uncertainty of mental health struggles, the isolation of the global shutdown, and the perspective gained from the most extensive time away from the road of each manâs adult life.
Miss May I vocalist Levi Benton shares "This song âFree Fallâ is our open invitation to anyone who wants to take that leap they never had the courage to take. When you reach the edge of a journey you have struggled to travel through and you back out before the final step, this is your chance to take that leap off the edge and see where the journey takes you. I know the popular term for this is âimposter syndromeâ and for anyone who has felt the relief of pushing through, this song is your anthem."
MISS MAY I are: Levi Benton â Vocals B.J. Stead â Lead Guitar Justin Aufdemkampe â Guitar Ryan Neff â Bass/Vocals Jerod Boyd â Drums
"Curse Of Existence is exactly what it reads, the curse we have in our existence. This doesnât mean anything strictly negative, but it covers all existence that is the good and the bad, the highs and the lows, the sorrow and the joy. Everything that comes with life comes with a lesson and a price and that is what we have put into this new album. It tells our lessons over our lives that have shaped us and have brought us to the very bottom of our lowest low and the tallest point to our highest high. We know the reflection we all went through during the world coming to a halt and that experience brought a lot of these sheltered emotions to light!" - Levi Benton
Pre-order Curse of Existence here: https://bfan.link/curse-of-existence
Produced by Will Putney (A Day To Remember, The Amity Affliction, Every Time I Die), Curse of Existence is the sound of five people prying victory from the jaws of defeat. Unbroken by isolation, fearless in the face of fear, MISS MAY I wrestle with demons real and imagined all over the album.
TOM VEK – A More Profound Sound
TOM VEK RELEASES NEW ALBUM, NEWER SYMBOLS.
Tom Vek released his new album Newer Symbols, a complete re-work of his 2020 album New Symbols, on 8th August.Â
âReleasing an album at the start of the pandemic meant it didnât get the outing it should have done, no live shows etc, so I wanted to make the tracks live on, give them all a new lifeâ says Tom.Â
Harnessing the skills learned from making reworks and remixes for the likes of Foals, Everything Everything and Alt-J, UK multi-instrumentalist and producer Tom Vek (known for 2005âs cult debut LP âWe Have Soundâ) turns the indie-rock of New Symbols into a more electro-tinged and bombastic set of tracks with both a meaner and more profound sound.Â
âMy process always involves mangling and re-effecting the sounds Iâve recorded, this feels like a continued evolution of these tracks. Some of them happened instantaneously and some were riddles that took some time to reveal themselvesâ.Â

Speaking on the new single ‘Survive New’ Tom says:
Â
“The track was written before the pandemic hit but took on a new depth of meaning when the album was getting finished up. Even before the pandemic, like many people I had been through various emotional and professional challenges that made me want to write some kind of mantra to myself, and anyone else that needed it (âI know weâll take great steps, and weâll be proved rightâ). This great meaning of life tragic comedy, why sweat the small stuff when itâs kindof insane that we even won the life lottery? (âwe are the beautiful just by being aliveâ), and no doubt that becoming a dad is fucking nuts and shapes your opinion on what attitude you want to promote (âI know we are blessed with our children and wivesâ). This rework 100% nods to indie-electro anthem Blue Monday, Iâve enjoyed revisiting the âchoir padâ era which I used one of my first ever singles âIf You Wantâ (2004), and swapping the splashy rock drums for the mechanic drum machine seemed fitting.”
Tom Vek will headline London Lafayette on Saturday 29th October.Â
Tickets go on sale Fri 12 August at 9am via https://gigst.rs/TVLafayette
Psyclon Nine – A Creative Peak
The music of Psyclon Nine is not for the faint-hearted.
The brainchild of Nero Bellum, the dark, aggressive electronic assault of his groupâs 2003 debut album âDivine Infektâ immediately earned them popularity and notoriety worldwide. Its follow-up, âINRIâ (2005), displayed a marked evolution with a lyrical focus on religious themes. In the ensuing years, Bellum’s music has taken him down an even darker path, his distinctive whispered-scream vocals guiding us through an idiosyncratic take on modern underground music that has implemented elements of black metal and post-punk influences that, although often featuring haunting melodies, has often had an undercurrent of unbridled menace.
The forthcoming new album, âLess To Heavenâ, is a complex and immersive work that sees Psyclon Nine at a creative peak, with concussive, machine-precise drums, hammering guitars, scathing vocals and evil electronics all interplaying seamlessly. It also sees the group charting undefined musical territory that bridges elements of metalcore with doom electronics, trip-techno with black metal, and experimental cinematic soundscapes with alternative rock.
While many acts have a constant faster-louder approach to industrial-black metal, Bellum is unafraid to use all manner of tempos to build atmosphere. This is evident in the recordâs first single, the seething âMoney And Sex And Death', which builds with writhing tension, like a snake preparing to strike its victim, before exploding into an all out audio assault.
Bellum states of the song that âit was inspired by the excitement we feel when we see the world burning around us and the abhorrent personal truths that we hold as sacred. The misery of others has never been viewed by so many angles, and strictly for our entertainment. With âMoney And Sex And Deathâ I am presenting your reflection to yourself.â
DESERT NEAR THE END – Balancing The Aggression
DESERT NEAR THE END â âIron Rainâ from album “The Dawning of the Son”.
Desert Near the End returned with their fifth album “The Dawning of the Son” released on May 27 of 2022 by Boersma Records (Germany)!Â
As the time of the pandemic seems to be at its end, Desert Near the End used this two-year break as an opportunity to be creative. Delivering the direct successor of their previous endeavor, “of Fire and Stars”!Â
This time they managed to balance the aggression with melody reaching to an outcome that feels more “Desert Near the End” than ever before.Â
JOHNNY BUTLER – Radiant And Radical
JOHNNY BUTLER NEW YORK JAZZ MAVERICK ANNOUNCES THIRD ALBUM: âTHE SUNBATHERâ OUT 16 SEPTEMBER, VIA HI4HEAD RECORDS
The follow-up to 2020âs critically acclaimed âThirteen Dancesâ, the NYC saxophonist, technologist, dancer and composer returns with a radiant, radical new release.
Comprising 11 songs of his pioneering brand of cosmic jazz, Butler delivers a concept album of maverick instrumentals tied together by a cryptic central protagonist known only as âThe Sunbatherâ.
As Butler explains:Â
âThe Sunbather does not soak in the sun, he lays in a bath of noise. The Sunbather is a dance, a film, a song, a person. He is me, of me, and not me at all.â
From songs that come alive in the heat of the noonday sun, to those that shiver in the shadows of its diminishing form; Butler delivers a record of extraordinary texture and blinding musicianship, with counterparts that revolve, change and respond with a mesmeric elegance.
Like its predecessor, âThirteen Dancesâ, all of the songs on âThe Sunbatherâ were performed by Butler in single takes using just a tenor saxophone, a handful of electronic devices, breathing techniques, and body movement (with the exception of âItâs Fineâ – which was performed on a Korg Prologue). All of the music was also performed live with no edits, no overdubs, no samples, no loops, and no pre-recorded materials.
Alive with a palpable sense of drama and movement, nine of the eleven songs here were initially written for a number of dance productions staged throughout 2021. âSpinning Wheelâ was written for Sleepwalkers, a dance-theatre work presented at The Visionary in Mount Vision, New York with dancer-choreographers Michelle Thompson Ulerich and Caleb Patterson. âThe Necklaceâ was composed for Warriors, which premiered at The Visionary with dancer-choreographers Gwendolyn Gussman and Xenia Mansour and lighting designer Alex Taylor. âUnatamam Seniâ, âItâs Fineâ, âLost,â and âThe Birdcageâ were all written for HOLDTIGHTâs immersive production What Keeps You Going, which took place at The Cell Theatre in Manhattan. âThe Alex Detectorâ, âSlow Motionâ, and âJoker Family Reunionâ were composed for performances in Brooklyn and Manhattan with Alex Oliva.
With cinematic qualities both fearsome and harrowing in their own ways, it may come as little surprise that the other two songs were composed for thrillers made in collaboration with the director Laurel Bear. The title track, âThe Sunbatherâ, was originally written for a horror film of the same name, whereas âTrance Danceâ was composed for the short film Intruder, which premiered at New York Universityâs Gallatin Arts Festival in April of last year.
With all songs written and performed by Johnny Butler, the album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Julian Picado and Francisco Gonzalez in November-December 2021. A work of an often searing beauty and intimidating presence that demands you to bask in its aura, âThe Sunbatherâ by Johnny Butler is released on Hi4head Records on 16th September.

LILY LANE – On A Rocket To Success
Lily Lane was undoubtedly born to entertain.
Originally from Boston, the now Los Angeles based pop artist stems from a family of musicians, with her older brother being 1/2 of the multi-Grammy nominated duo, Sofi Tukker.
Having spent most of her adult years living in New York, Lane studied at the renowned Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU and after graduating with honors she went on to sign with Wilhelmina Models, becoming a champion for body positivity, female & LGBTQ representation. Making a bright entrance to the music scene, her musical endeavors shine, proving there are truly no limits when it comes to both her musical capability and likening soundscape. She claims, âThere was never a plan B, modeling was a means to an endâŠPopstardom was always the endgame for me, since I could make sound.â
Feeding introspection, metaphorical bliss and soulful vocal energy into her repertoire, she unveils her latest single âBad.â Written with producer Taylor Sparks (Kelsea Ballerini, Azealia Banks), âBadâ is the perfect song to listen to if you’re feeling naughty, having a bad day or you wake up on the wrong side of the bed. Helping to reclaim your power, the track is about owning your villain moments, as Lane confides, âThe day I wrote this song I was feeling frustrated over the leaked SCOTUS draft overturning Roe v Wade and I realized that sometimes even if you get the right guys in office, you campaign, you donate the world isn’t fair. I walked into this first session with Taylor, eyes puffy from crying- I looked a mess and literally said, ‘sorry I look like this, usually Iâm a baddie but today Iâm just bad’ and that became the tag for this song.âÂ
Â
Â
With lyrical luster, bulging basslines and tantalizing vocals, she creates a cinematic symphony that soars to new heights. Lane explains, âI want to help women realize their lives donât have to be Cinderella movies, they can literally be Maleficent and it can be just as beautiful and inspiring and dope. Sometimes the loves of our lives are our friends or our pets or ourselves.â Delivering a soul-infused pop anthem with an IDGAF attitude, Lane’s voice calls to mind the grit of Amy Winehouse, the range of Demi Lovato, and the soul of Alicia Keys.Â
The pop artist has performed to a sold-out audience at the House of Blues in Boston along with Big Time Rush, sung for the Knicks at Madison Square Garden, as well as having played at some of New Yorkâs most prestigious venues including Irving Plaza and Gramercy Theater. Lane has had a lot of success in the sync space landing placements with the likes of Pretty Little Liars, Netflix and numerous makeup advertisements. Racking up streaming numbers in the millions and garnering rave reviews from the likes of NYLON, Just Jared JR and Perez Hilton, Lily Lane is set to absolutely skyrocket in success this year, with her forthcoming Sophomore EP due out early September 2022.
SPECTRA*Paris – A Beautifully Weird Concoction
Charismatic, enigmatic, and absolutely outstanding, singer Elena Alice Fossi, who is best known for her work with Italian electro-trailblazers KIRLIAN CAMERA, presents “Modernism”, the fifth album of her eclectic project SPECTRA*Paris.
“Modernism” is transfiguring electronic music through the prism of Elenaâs voice and several collaborations with other musicians into a beautiful kaleidoscope of stylistic colours ranging from EBM, future pop, dark electronic, art pop, and various influences more.
Among the artists that gladly followed Elena’s call are KIRLIAN CAMERA mastermind ANGELO BERGAMINI, PROJECT PITCHFORK, SEASURFER, legendary producer JOHN FRYER, who worked with DEPECHE MODE and NINE INCH NAILS alongside many others, JOHN ROX & OXYDION, African singer-songwriter FAKEBA, and guitarist and producer MICHAEL CIRAVOLO (BEAUTY IN CHAOS, HUMAN DRAMA).
“Modernism” in a way is a musical child that was born out of the isolation that was imposed on Northern Italy during the pandemic. To cage a tigress like Elena and to separate her from the beloved stages and music performances probably had to result into something consequential and massive. With “Modernism” the singer and composer turned something horrible into something wonderful in a process that was liberating and empowering at the same time. Elena trapped into the SPECTRA*Paris songs all the notes that absorb her fears, her astonishment, and her sense of confusion into what she calls “a weird concoction of melancholy and rhythm”.
The episodic character of “Modernism” that may also be viewed as musical glimpses into a personal diary penned by Elena during her isolation is complemented and underlined by the beautiful artwork that accompanies the album. The photographer’s lens becomes a keyhole through which the observer might peek into most intimate moments of the artist’s life.Â
SPECTRA*Paris was conceived as an electronic rock oriented project in the wake Elena’s previous project SIDERARTICA. In 2007 she self-released the ultra-rare promo 3″ CD-R limited to 25 copies “Spectra Murder Show” and immediately got picked-up by a label, which led to the acclaimed first album “Dead Models Society (Young Ladies Homicide Club)” hitting the streets in the same year. The debut reached the charts in many countries and went up to gold. Elena followed-up with two successful albums in 2010, “License to Kill” and “Christmas Ghouls”. Tracks from these recordings as well as the latest album “Retromachine Betty” (2017) have been used in tv and catwalk soundtracks.
With “Modernism”, SPECTRA*Paris chronicle Elena Alice Fossi’s musical prison-break into the freedom that only true art can grant. Aided by her accomplice and long-time friend Angelo Bergamini, who co-produced and supervised every sound in this chapter, the composer and singer has delivered a fascinating personal statement via a wide range of electronic music.
