“DIE4MYBITCH,” is a hypnotic introduction to PLVTINUM’s upcoming EP, slated to release later this year.
Pairing cinematic production with sinister yet self-aware lyrics, PLVTINUM explores his internal struggle with possessiveness on “DIE4MYBITCH.” He elaborates: “On one hand, my instinct to engage in possessive behavior can be destructive to my relationships, on the other, it can lead to elevated passion and loyalty. This song acts as a device for cathartic expression – instead of attempting to rationalize my more unsavory attributes, I lean into them.”

Somewhere between a suburban misfit and a loudmouthed twenty-something, PLVTINUM isn’t your typical squeaky clean pop star. Blending the sonic textures of EDM, pop-punk attitude, and catchy pop-R&B, the New York-based artist unapologetically explores the darker sides of the human experience. With lyrics that touch on toxic relationships, sex, nihilism, ego and party culture, PLVTINUM has captured the attention of the post-teen crowd and emerged as a defining voice in the alt-pop space. He first broke out with his 2016 viral hit, “Champagne & Sunshine,” but his ever-growing catalog and fanbase — 2.3M Spotify monthly listeners, 86K Instagram followers, 1B cumulative streams — has proved that he’s much more than a one-hit-wonder.
Lawless UK rock band Mellor will be releasing their latest single, ‘Battle Hardened’, on the 16th of September, which premiered via Atwood Magazine and is taken from their forthcoming album, Problematic Passions, which is set to be released on the 11th of November via Triple B Records.
With over 2.8 million streams on Spotify alone, Mellor has also received airplay from BBC Introducing Berkshire, BBC Radio 1’s Abbie McCarthy, and BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson among others.
Their previously released EP, Dive into the Strange, reached #2 on the iTunes rock album chart and #3 on the Amazon Music rock album chart. The band has played the same festivals as industry legends, including the Isle of Wight Festival, where Biffy Clyro and Noel Gallagher headlined, as well as the UK independent Truck Festival, which saw the likes of Wolf Alice, Foals, and Two Door Cinema Club.
The Reading-based band was started by Gary Kingham (lead vocal and guitar) and Josh Woodward (bass) who met in college, but, after a few auditions, recruited Sam Igoe (drums) and Kristian Bell (guitar). The members share a diverse range of inspirations, citing the likes of Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Biffy Clyro, Stone Roses, The Mars Volta, Libertines, The Smiths, Foo Fighters, Wesley Gonzalez, and Foals. Their sound can be likened to Arctic Monkeys, Foals, The White Stripes, and Pink Floyd.
‘Battle Hardened’ is a force to be reckoned with. Rapid-fire hi-hats scatter throughout the single, and melancholic lyrics pull listeners down into the trenches, where they are guided across a battleground of love. With an artillery of unstoppable drums and amp-wrecking guitars, Mellor gives us a forward-driving single that cuts through the noise.
Mellor speaks on their new single: “One of the few songs we’ve written where the chorus is more of a melodic noise, rather than lyrics. We didn’t know how it was going to turn out all through the recording process, but it quickly became a favourite amongst us. Very mischievous sounding track, complemented by the lyrics. A been there done that, stubborn attitude to love.”
Mellor Tour Dates 2022:

27th October – The Star, Guildford
3rd November – Sidney & Matilde, Sheffield

Following the announcement of their first record in six years, Strike A Nerve (release date: September 30via T-BOY/UMe), and the release of the critically-hailed, blistering lead single “Mind Right,” Texas hard rock stalwarts DROWNING POOL have announced their follow-up; the melodic and heavy “Choke.”
Though they incorporate cleaner vocals on “Choke,” the band doesn’t let the addition of melody stop the track from being a metallic banger. You can pre-order Strike A Nerve here: https://drowningpool.lnk.to/StrikeANervePR
“’Choke’ is another one of my favorite songs off Strike A Nerve,” says guitarist CJ Pierce. “Musically, we really wanted to push ourselves to extremes on this album and venture outside our musical comfort zone with some of the songwriting and playing – like you hear on ‘Mind Right’ – but ‘Choke’ is a perfect mix of the more traditional Drowning Pool style and the foundation we laid on the Sinner record, and the ever-evolving band that we have become with Jasen Moreno. Lyrically, ‘Choke’ comes from a place where many of us have been before. It’s about when someone has given up on you, put you down, and speaks nothing but words of negativity and hate. But like we always do, we fight through, we persevere, and we ultimately overcome. We’re still here, we’re still thriving, and we’re not going anywhere. We’re strong, and we hope you choke on your words!”
Inspired by wearing life’s battle scars on our sleeves. Strike A Nerve is an 11-song tour-de-force through the torn and battered psyche of a band. Drowning Pool completed recording, mixing and mastering Strike A Nerve just as COVID forced worldwide lockdowns. Written and recorded before the pandemic that halted the world for more than two years, the album became more poignant with its time on the shelf.
Long hailed as champions of blue-collar hard rock and metal for their consistently incendiary live shows and vastly impressive catalog, Drowning Pool have become celebrants of the nu-metal movement numerous trials through working-class ethos and stubborn perseverance, creating a bond few bands could ever realize.

A purveyor of relatable, quirky indie pop, Open Arms showcases Ruby’s sharp songwriting and stellar vocals .
Speaking on the track, Ruby Waters states:
I wrote “Open Arms” in Spain last spring at a song writing camp I was lucky to be invited to. The song came so naturally. [It’s] about how I like to deal with shit, my outlets, and how to handle the ups and downs. It doesn’t always have to be a weakness or a problem to be depressed or overwhelmed, it can sometimes just be a part of life, and however you cope with it isn’t something to be ashamed of.
Hailing from the small town of Shelburne, Ontario, Ruby Waters’ journey is much like her music – eclectic, always evolving, and unfeigned. An Indigenous person born to two artists, music has always been a familiar presence. Now, as a young artist setting out on her own, Ruby Waters is ready to unapologetically plug in, belt out, and leave you in awe.
Her highly anticipated sophomore EP, If It Comes Down To It (2020), received worldwide acclaim with the lead single “Quantum Physics”, amassing over 9 million streams to date. Last year she supported City & Colour and Ocean Alley while also keeping an extensive summer festival circuit including a performance at Osheaga 2021.
With a JUNO Nomination for Alternative Album of the Year and two Top 5 singles at Alternative Radio under her belt, Ruby Waters is more determined than ever to continue bringing her most authentic self to her art. With new music and other exciting news on the horizon, Ruby Waters is making sure 2022 ends with a bang worthy of her vocal prowess.

If you’re searching for something along the lines of Gin Blossom’s, The Menzingers, and Superchunk, this album is a must listen. Their lead single “Rosey” sounds like an unearthed gem from the 90’s alternative boom. Beg A Promise will release on Friday, October 21st.
Atlanta punk band New Junk City writes heartfelt, catchy songs that have been described as “Tom Petty as played by Green Day.”
One savvy reviewer supposed that they must have spent their childhood listening to their parents’ Gin Blossoms CD in the car, which the band is fine with, except it wasn’t their parents’, and it was definitely a Blink-182 CD. Currently on tour nowhere, because the world is ending, you can find their music on the internet.”

American-born Klein died Sept. 10 in Paris, he had lived there for most of his adult life. The ICP’s managing director of programming David Campany, who curated the retrospective of Klein’s work that is on view at the ICP in New York , confirmed his death on Monday.
Klein once said of his own work, “I came from the outside, the rules of photography didn’t interest me. There were things you could do with a camera that you couldn’t do with any other medium — grain, contrast, blur, cock-eyed framing, eliminating or exaggerating gray tones and so on. I thought it would be good to show what’s possible, to say that this is as valid of a way of using the camera as conventional approaches.”
William Klein was and always will be an inspiration to me and many others. We mourn the passing of of a great human being.
