FE SALOMON – American Ruminations
FE SALOMON RELEASES WIDESCREEN NEW SINGLE: “INTERSTATE 10”.
A cinematic insight into her fast-approaching debut solo album – FE SALOMON – bows out of 2022 with the stately new single: “Interstate 10”.
Worlds away from the twisted Middle England countryside Fe Salomon tapped into on earlier release “Quintessential England”, “Interstate 10” transports listeners to the endless metropolis of the United States.
Synced to majestic and widescreen arrangements cut straight from a Hollywood flick, “Interstate 10” finds Fe ruminating on her earliest experiences of touring America at the tender age of 19. A backing singer at the time, with no money and only a futile fake ID to make-do with, she remembers
“”Interstate 10” connects far-flung events that occurred during my travels around the US, including having to escape from a violent manager who gambled all the money away in Vegas. The song was written with my old friend, producer Ru Cook, and it was originally envisioned as a country song.”

With a filmic narrative that deftly conjures the ceaseless stretches of the country’s great highways to the perils of pursuing the American dream, Fe’s dreamily despondent vocals add drama and intrigue, to a cinematic score that builds towards a grandiose, atmospheric climax.
Produced and arranged by Johnny Parry, “Interstate 10” is the final single to be lifted from Fe’s forthcoming debut solo album ‘Living Rooms’. Confirmed for release on 27 January 2023 via Drink Me Recordings, the album will present 11 tracks of intricately autobiographical, richly orchestral pop definitive of an artist in both prolific and purposeful form. The full-length LP also directly follows Fe’s ‘Taxicabs’ EP, four tracks released earlier in the Summer which offered a candid chronicling of a previous chapter in Fe’s life. You can listen back here.

DEBUT ALBUM: ‘LIVING ROOMS’ – OUT 27 JANUARY 2023
Fe Salomon is a singer-songwriter, performer and producer, currently based in the East Midlands. Finding a kindred creative spirit in producer and contemporary classical composer Johnny Parry, together the pair have been working on her upcoming debut ‘Living Rooms’. A record which will tell stories of multiple lives lived and lost in the city, of friendships that meant everything and the characters you’ll never meet again, of transience and loneliness, and of getting by and moving on; it promises to be every bit as enrapturing and enigmatic as the artist at its core.
Gifted with the kind of superpowers that have blessed Alison Goldfrapp with her unwavering glam-pop allure and Stevie Nicks with that invincible soul, Fe Salomon’s empowering first release will prove she’s cut from the same cloth and ready to be your newest musical hero. Promising a full-blooded debut of rich, playful, experimental pop with distinct, exuberant and fulfilling depths, she releases her debut album: ‘Living Rooms’ early next year.
GEORGE HENNESSEY – Turning Heads
GEORGE HENNESSEY BREAKS OUT WITH ANTHEMIC NEW SINGLE: “PRISONER”.
His final release of 2022, the anthemic new cut arrives as a foretaste of his highly anticipated debut solo album: ‘If You Can’t Find What You’re Looking For Please Ask’, which will be released on 3rd February 2023.
With a glimmering guitar lick that Paul Weller or Noel Gallagher would have been proud to put their names to at the peak of their powers, the new single “Prisoner” is a psychedelic-tipped, Brit-Pop embodying joie de vivre. Finding nuance in nostalgia, the song is ultimately about escaping the constrictions of life through the music you love.
As George explains:
“”Prisoner” is about when luck isn’t on your side, and you feel like you’re being held emotionally captive… your guitar and melody can be your only ways out.”
From its day-tripping lyrical wonderings, to its reality-crashing drum rolls, and its electrifying guitar solos, “Prisoner” is a record of fearless rock’n’roll escapism from an artist primed and ready to break into the big time.
George Hennessey is a rock’n’roll singer-songwriter, born and raised in London. Turning heads with songs that often boldly marry the earth-splitting sounds of Grunge with the melodic merits of Brit-Pop, the emerging artist has been swiftly ascending through the musical ranks of late.
Following a busy year of major live appearances across Europe, Hennessey has been impressing significant crowds at festivals such as Y Not? (UK), Isle of Wight Festival (UK), Victorious (UK) and Rolling Stone Beach (DE); not to mention prominent club shows in Berlin, Hamburg and London.
Unfurling a succession of singles throughout 2022, including “All Or Nothing”, “Go With The Flow”, “Lost Society” and now “Prisoner”, each has amplified the buzz around Hennessey, with the latter even featuring on Apple Music’s “New In Rock” playlist for several weeks in UK, Ireland, Austria and Germany, plus receiving support from Germany’s major radio stations NDR 2 and RBB Radioeins.
Setting the scene for a huge year to come, Hennessey is now putting the finishing touches to his long awaited debut album: ‘If You Can’t Find What You’re Looking For Please Ask’. Confirmed for release on 3 February 2023, the record will comprise 9 songs co-produced and mastered by the esteemed Flemming Rasmussen (Metallica, Ringo Starr, Mew) and mixed by James Kenosha (Dry The River, Pulled Apart By Horses, Pastel). It will be available on vinyl & digitally.

NYTE SKYE – A Dream Come True
NYTE SKYE Reflect On Distant Memories in New Single “Take Me Up Again”.
“I wrote this when things were quite bleak and everyone was isolating. It felt like all we had was our family and we had to keep each other going,” says Nyles Lannon of Northern California-based alt-rock band NYTE SKYE about their second single, “Take Me Up Again,” inspired by The Cure.
Taken from their atmospheric and delightfully ethereal debut album, Vanishing, which arrives January 10 via Sonic Ritual, “Take Me Up Again” follows the reverb-drenched single “Dream State (I’m Vanishing)” harboring similar feelings about the strange effects the pandemic had on the world. “I wanted the song to operate like a time-capsule of sorts, for me at least. How strange it was to go on a road trip when everyone we encountered was distant, masked, and a little fearful…I knew this time would eventually pass, and how strange it would all seem in the rear-view mirror. As life gets back to our new normal, I find myself missing those times together,” Nyles adds.
When writing “Take Me Up Again,” connecting the pieces instrumentally was a process of trial and error. “It first started as a very simple electronic song, kind of like a stripped-down old Cure song. We experimented a lot with different sounds. Skye (Nyle’s Son) had found a vintage marching drum at a thrift store; turns out it was a 1930’s Ludwig. We found some missing parts and hardware online and we were able to refurbish it. It had a deep, long decay and tons of overtones. We also used a broken China cymbal on the choruses, referencing a bit from the song ‘Destination Unknown’ by Missing Persons and Terry Bozzio’s awesome drumming on that. This loud trashy banging, gives the choruses a signature sound and it just seemed to work,” describes Nyles.
Building on the synergistic family dynamic of vocalist/guitarist Nyles (who hails from the celebrated shoegaze band Film School) and his son Skye (who recorded this album when he was only 12 years old) on drums, Nyte Skye was formed of equal parts frustration from quarantined sheltering that COVID brought and the boundless creativity that arose from having nowhere to go and nothing to do. Nyles explains, “The songs on Vanishing capture the little ways my son and I were coping with those early days of the pandemic; some reflective and poignant, some escapist, some playful. Music was our bond and in some ways our guiding light. It gave us a focused goal while we processed what was happening, together in our little world.”
With the emotional toll of lockdown getting farther and farther away in the rearview mirror, the creative nucleus of Nyte Skye continues to explore the textured foundation that Nyles’ Film School has built and expands on it, incorporating elements of other bands that they love, such as The Cure, Spiritualized, Elliott Smith, and The Police (one of Skye’s main influences is Stewart Copeland). “I am so grateful for this connection we have,” beams Nyles. “Do we drive each other crazy sometimes? Of course. He always needs to have food when we play, for instance, otherwise, everything becomes about food. Sometimes I have to remind myself that he is still a kid in some ways and hasn’t been playing in bands for 30 years like me. Yet, when he plays, he is just a damn good drummer.”
Ultimately, not only did working on music help the duo cope with a uniquely challenging situation, but just being stuck at home helped stoke their creativity. “Music was the only thing I did during the pandemic, besides online school,” Skye says. “It gave us all this time we didn’t have before to make the album.” For Nyles—knowing they might never have that kind of time again—to be able to put out a record with his son is, simply, “a dream come true.”

MULL HISTORICAL SOCIETY – A Creative Spirit
One of Scotland’s most celebrated artists of the 21st Century – MULL HISTORICAL SOCIETY – will return in 2023 with a wave of new activity.
Signing with Demon Records, the alias of Colin MacIntyre will be releasing a trilogy of colourful classic album reissues (‘Loss’, ‘Us’ and ‘This Is Hope’), plus a lavish 80 track media-book box set (‘Archaeology: Complete Recordings 2000-2004’) – all released on 24th February. Order here: https://mullsociety.lnk.to/archaeology
In addition, MHS will also be returning to the live stage for a very special anniversary show in celebration of his early works.
The jewel in the crown of these revisionary releases is ‘Archaeology: Complete Recordings 2000-2004’; an expansive and ornately produced 4xCD media/book set that is a must for every Mull Historical Society fan. A monument to MacIntyre’s earliest period, its 80-strong tracklist includes the first three MHS albums in their entirety (Discs 1-3), plus a fourth disc compiling a trove of unreleased rarities, live tracks, demos, and covers (inc. The Strokes’ “Last Nite”, Ms Dynamite’s “It Takes More” and Radiohead’s “Motion Picture Soundtrack”). Accompanying the audio is a lovingly produced book, compiling exclusive photographs, extracts from Colin MacIntyre of MHS’s celebrated writings (inc. a preview of his new memoir ‘The Boy In the Bubble’), plus a reflective chapter on ‘Loss’ extracted from Tom Clayton’s 2022 book ‘When Quiet Was The New Loud’, and an essay from journalist Billy Sloan discussing the Mull Historical Society legacy.
In tandem with the boxset release, MHS’ first three albums (‘Loss’, ‘Us’ & ‘This Is Hope’) will also be available as individual vinyl editions for the first time since their release.
The record that started it all, ‘Loss’, Mull Historical Society’s Gold-selling, Top-40 breakthrough album is being remastered and repressed in a 2xLP black vinyl edition. Featuring the 7-minute epic “Barcode Bypass” (a track named NME’s Debut Single of the Year in 2000), the single signalled the emergence of a truly original song-writing talent for the new millennium, with MTV supported follow-up singles such as “I Tried” and “Animal Cannabus” laying the groundwork for a momentous debut album. Sumptuously crafted, with quirky and thought provoking lyrics, ‘Loss’ proved to be an instant hit with fans and critics alike. “‘Loss’ was about dealing with grief, celebrating life and a tribute to Community too” remembers Colin, “and I feel so blessed it found one”. Widely acknowledged as one of the best British albums of that year (2001), ‘Loss’ received universal praise from the likes of NME (9/10), Uncut (5/5), The Scotsman (5/5), The Observer, Time Out and more. Standing the test of time over the years, ‘Loss’ was a recent subject of the Sunday Herald’s ‘Scotland’s Best Albums’ series, while its featured hit single “Watching Xanadu” featured on STV’s ‘Scottish Greatest Album’ show.
MULL HISTORICAL SOCIETY
‘ARCHAEOLOGY: COMPLETE RECORDINGS 2000-2004’ (4xCD SET)
+ 2xLP VINYL REISSUES OF ‘LOSS’, ‘US’ & ‘THIS IS HOPE’
– RELEASED 24 FEBRUARY 2023, VIA DEMON RECORDS
ORDER HERE:
Marking its 20th anniversary this year, MHS’ sensational follow-up record, ‘Us’, also receives a 2xLP black vinyl edition, with remastering by Phil Kinrade. A record about “reaching outwards and making sense of an exciting, hugely changeable, time in my life” reflects Colin, its personal subject matter would also connect with wider audiences and became a Gold-selling Top-20 smash. Featuring hit singles the likes of “The Supermarket Strikes Back” (a follow-up song for “Barcode Bypass”) and the wonderful Top 20 highlight “The Final Arrears #19”, the album was testament to an artist mastering his craft and expanding his world, with a 5* review in the Observer praising it as: “Originality is at its core. MacIntyre has arrived as if fully-formed. A tartan clad debut of aspiring proportions”.
Bookending this trio was ‘This Is Hope’, an album that will be pressed on vinyl for the very first time in 2023. Mull’s third act of those early years, marked something of a departure from “Loss” and “US”. Made at the legendary Bearsville Studios in Woodstock, NY, it was also his first recorded outside the UK. Travelling across the US over a two-month period, the sights and sounds of America’s deep south would bring exotic new flavours to the MHS sound, notably so on the Top 40 hit single “How ‘Bout I Love You More” and the exceptional closer “In The Next Life (A Requiem)”, which featured a New Orleans gospel choir.
Reflecting on the last 20+ years of Mull Historical Society and these upcoming releases, Colin MacIntyre says: “I truly appreciate how these albums seem to have found their way into people’s hearts & minds over the past 20-plus years, which makes me feel like quite the spring chick... Over the past few years I’ve had possibly my biggest creative surges in both music and writing, juggling the puzzle of where to land loads of new ideas. It reminds me of the time leading up to making ‘Loss’ when it all started to make sense. So I’m excited to have the first three albums’ reissued on vinyl ('This Is Hope' for the first time), plus an 80-track Complete Recordings Box-set retrospective out in Feb, for which I hope the “real” MHS won't mind me borrowing their “Archaeological” arm in the title…"
In celebration of the reissues, Mull Historical Society is planning a unique performance at this year’s Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow. On 3rd February 2023, Mull and a full live band (plus some special guests TBA), will be performing his first two records ‘Loss’ and ‘Us’ in their entirety at the city’s Saint Luke’s venue. Promising a reflective and celebratory evening, tickets and further details can be found here.

Demikhov – A New Chapter
Full-throttle comeback for the Italian noise-core band Demikhov.
Announcing the release of a new album titled “The Chemical Bath,” the second in their career (and the first with the current lineup, the result of a reorganization four years ago), Demikhov release a new single to serve as the opener for this new chapter.
“The Leader is Dead and Everyone is Grieving” is a massive, caustic, impactful track that breaks away from the initial noise-rock sounds to embrace markedly post-hardcore dynamics and changes, a perfect synthesis of the band’s new direction.
Right from the title, the track expresses the main components of Demikhov’s artistic quest, both in terms of the strictly musical and compositional aspect and the concept that underpins the entire creative process: an immersion in the darkest period of early 20th century Soviet history, in which the claims of modern science to preserve life by treating human bodies as mere building material intersect with the political and religious excesses of the new ruling power.
The addition of vocals is also a novelty, for those who remembered Demikhov as an instrumental band: "Once the song was closed, we initially rehearsed "The Leader Is Dead..." live as an instrumental piece, without imagining that we would write and shout lyrics to it! We never imagined that a particular vocal line would strike a chord with our pieces. Then, in mid-2019, we attended The Body's concert in Milan, at Macao: those high-pitched, ungainly screams, in apparent contrast to the dark, compact sounds of the guitars, were a revelation. Soon after, Zano began to put the microphone next to the guitar!"
It also marks the first record under the Demikhov name edited by the band’s own studio Produzioni Rumorose in Desenzano del Garda (Italy):
"The possibility of handling every stage of recording as well as composing, exploring the full potential of creating directly in the studio, pushed us to work more carefully on the record, trying to immerse ourselves in its realization from top to bottom, without haste but with playful curiosity. Only master and graphics were entrusted to others, to James Plotkin and Officina Infernale, respectively). Thus, we were able to try and try again the different solutions that lay before us from time to time, testing them live as soon as a stage allowed, before delivering the piece to the recording tapes.
Before the whole record was finished, in fact, we were able to rehearse "The Leader is Dead and Everyone is Grieving" all over Europe, and in different contexts, thus fine-tuning a piece that combines the most furious parts we have ever written so far with more dilated, high-intensity passages."
“The Chemical Bath” is to be released in January 2023 by DioDrone Records in Italy, Bulgarian independent label Kontingent Records and Greek Sweetohm Recordings.
The album’s entire artwork was curated by Andrea Mozzato, known as Officina Infernale, one of the most visionary and lysergic artists around, who has once again managed to combine the use of the most perturbing imagery with a traditional imagery that permeates our entire everyday life.
Cheat Codes / MacKenzie Porter – Gone Country
Multi-platinum hit-making trio Cheat Codes, popularly known for their smash single ‘No Promises‘ (feat. Demi Lovato), are diving into the country music scene with their debut country album One Night in Nashville – Presented by the Cheat Codes.
This album is an entirely new endeavour for the genre-bending trio who have put out many records in the electronic dance, pop, and alt rock genres. Coming off the success of their independently released Hellraisers trilogy, making a county album was the next natural step.
Each one of the guys was influenced early on in their lives by country music to some degree, but it wasn’t until the trio went to Nashville where their country project started to come together. Cheat Codes found success with both Russell Dickerson and Jimmie Allen earlier this year. Now, rising star MacKenzie Porter joins their roster of all-star country collaborators.
“MacKenzie had written the idea and we really wanted to try blending it with Trevor’s vocals for more of a call and response feel. Getting to add two different perspectives to the idea of what our ‘One Night Left’ would be like really rounded out the song, and the combination of Trevor’s and MacKenzie’s vocals sound so good together.”
Though there are many women featured on the album which comes out 27 January, 2023, ‘One Night Left’ is the first single to drop with a featured female artist. While making country hits isn’t new to MacKenzie, working with Cheat Codes was. Of the experience she says, “I couldn’t wait for this song to drop! We wrote it at my friend’s lake house over a year ago and I knew it was special then. I am such a fan of Cheat Codes; the guys are so talented and also just the kindest dudes. It’s been so much fun collaborating with them and I’m so excited for everyone to hear it.”
With the support of a built-in audience and a passion to perform with some of the greats in the country space, the list of Cheat Codes collaborators grew over time and One Night in Nashville was born.
ONE NIGHT IN NASHVILLE TRACK LISTING:
Cheat Codes x Little Big Town x Bryn Christopher – “Never Loved You Again”
Cheat Codes x Lee Brice x Lindsay Ell – “How do you Love”
Cheat Codes x Jimmie Allen – “Lose You”
Cheat Codes x Lady A – “Something’s Coming”

Xana – No Sugar Coating
Emerging from Vancouver Island, Canada, Xana is an emerging pop powerhouse.
Her command of pop music keeps her songwriting enthralling, as her blissful vocals glide across the most intimate storytelling and worldbuilding. It’s her intoxicating vibrance that sets Xana apart, as she encompasses themes of LGBTQ romance, female empowerment, sex positivity, self-reflection, and discovery across her flourishing repertoire.
Her next single explores the moment you realize you were wrong about someone. Across her discography to date, Xana’s purely enthralling authenticity shines brightly, and her latest single is no exception. Lyrically, “bet you’ll get off on this” is completely stipped down to the blunt, hard truth; no sugar coating, no embellishments. The tender tones of an acoustic guitar and intimate vocals draw the listener into vulnerable, personal revelations. Met with the haunting strings, melancholy slide guitar, and the slight lyrical change at the end to “all we ever did was try to love you” sung with a crowd of tired voices, Xana really drives her point home.
Hoping to make people feel more connected to their emotions, Xana encourages her fanbase to embrace their truly authentic selves. She confides, “It’s so beautiful to see them fiercely be themselves and form friendships and relationships with each other. Music that brings people together is the most successful, and I’m so grateful to share this space with them.”
Garnering humbling support from several Spotify editorial playlists like New Music Friday Canada, The Locker, Fresh Finds Pop, Ready to Rock and Limelight to name a few, her music video for “Kitchen Light” has surpassed one million views on Youtube. With streams surpassing 20 million on Spotify alone, Xana continues to be a trailblazer of her time.
THOMAS TRUAX / BUDGIE – Tag Team In Wowtown
THOMAS TRUAX TEAMS UP WITH BUDGIE FOR NEW SINGLE:
“EVERYTHING’S GOING TO BE ALL RIGHT”
An eerie post-punk track that sees sharp spoken-word vocals, atmospheric guitar wobbles and reverb-drenched tremolo descend towards a catchy chorus that sees Truax bear his upbeat rock’n’roll teeth, “Everything’s Going to Be All Right” is taken from a new album ‘Dream Catching Songs’ (due January 2023).
Initially recorded in Berlin before being completed in Birmingham, the eclectic new track sees Truax — who has become known for his self-made musical contraptions — bring another of his inventions to life. Mother Superior is a motorised mechanical drum machine made almost entirely from recycled parts, and the machine features on the track alongside esteemed English drummer Budgie, best known for his work with Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Slits and The Creatures.
A bizarre and buoyant cut of outlandish beats and offbeat idiosyncrasies, Thomas Truax explains of the track:
“The scene is a kitchen full of ‘beautiful losers’, crowded around a messy kitchen table, wrestling with current circumstances and celebrating comfort in friendship. There are references to William Shatner’s ‘real space flight’, Coco Chanel’s old flat, and characters from my fictional world ‘Wowtown’”.
