ROYALTY CAPES – The Other Side Of Christmas
ROYALTY CAPES is pleased to present a special seasonal single: “This Christmas”.
A festive release laced with sleigh bells, solos, and thoughtful sentiments; all proceeds from the sales of the track will go towards the mental health charity MIND.
Speaking about the track, Ben Adey aka Royalty Capes says:
“I wanted to write something that captured the ‘other side’ of Christmas Time. A song that captures the feeling of the time of year, a song that captures the feeling of spending time apart from a loved one, a period of loneliness after a relationship, adjustment and the feeling of wanting to run away from all the usual tunes we associate with the advent period.
I was always drawn to the emotion in the older Christmas songs by Slade, Wham, Paul McCartney, Band Aid etc and so tried to capture a little bit of that essence in the song, as well as some chiming festive guitars, sleigh bells and harmonies.
Christmas isn’t wonderful for everyone, especially for those of us struggling with mental health problems. Donate £3, or whatever you feel so we can help raise funds for the vital services MIND provides.”

HANNAH ROSE PLATT – A Nightmare Before Christmas
HANNAH ROSE PLATT UNLEASHES A NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS: “THE WENDIGO RAG”
Released in the Spring of 2023 and produced by Ed Harcourt, ‘Deathbed Confessions’ comprises a collection of ghoulish ghost stories, melodious murder ballads, and humorous hammer-horrors.
Inspired by classic horror such as Rod Serling’s ‘The Twilight Zone’, the BBC’s ‘Inside No 9’, and the balladeer categories of Samuel Peyps’; Platt distilled them all into this scintillatingly strange album. Featuring the singles “Feeding Time For Monsters”, “Dead Man On The G Train” and the spellbinding duet “The Mermaid & The Sailor”(with Ed Harcourt)’.
Receiving warm reviews across the board, ‘Deathbed Confessions’ was praised by The Crack as “twelve murder-ballad tales that are dripping in gothic stylings”, whereas Americana UK hailed the record as a glimpse into future greatness, enthusing “a resounding success and one that should see Platt’s trajectory as an artist and songwriter rise to the next level” (8/10). Cementing her class as a born storyteller, Hannah’s debut was further praised by literature giant Neil Gaiman who praised the record as “marvellous… Beautiful and moving”.
Touring across Scandinavia with Frank Turner this Autumn, Hannah released a chilling new EP to coincide with the shows called: ‘Hypnagogia’. Inspired by haunting Nordic folklore, the EP comprised four fully fleshed-out songs produced by Ed Harcourt alongside four spoken-word interludes narrated by British acting talent and BAFTA nominee David Morrissey (Sherwood / The Long Shadow). The EP was praised by RNR Magazine as “something wicked”.
Already hatching plans for a bright 2024 to come, Hannah has a very special headline show in her hometown of Bristol where she will be performing ‘Deathbed Confessions’ and ‘Hypnagogia’ in full. Hannah will also be supporting The Sleeping Souls on their January tour. Dates below – tickets on sale now. Stay tuned for more from Hannah Rose Platt very soon…

S/J – Maybe We Don’t Deserve Love!
S/J (the solo project of folk/punk musician Seth Jude Richard, has released his fourth single “Never Win” featuring Liv Wallace, the singer of breakme!, who is also known for her countless acoustic punk covers which she shares on Instagram and Facebook.
S/J, Seth Jude Richard, is a south Louisiana boy who now lives in Florida. Growing up in a French rich culture, his grandfather introduced him to Cajun French music and acoustic music at a very young age.
By the time he was 9, Seth would pick up a guitar and start to dream big. At the young age of 12, he entered the world of punk rock and started on what would be a long journey of touring and many experiences. Starting his own band, Layden and the Lion, (Little Rocket Records) he would record with Aaron Gillespie of Underoath, who would also produce and play drums on the record, The Lucky Ones. He also played bass for Ten Foot Pole on the Escalating Quickly Tour a few years ago. After Covid, Seth decided to embark on a solo journey to release his upcoming debut album, “Black Magnolias”. With a hectic touring schedule and raising two boys, he sees no end in sight.

S/J says, “Never win is a song about meeting love and the things we do to keep it, or sabotage it. Some feel maybe we don’t deserve love.”
Unverkalt – An Ultimate Blend
Unverkalt is five-piece post-metal collective that merges their raw and versatile vocals with elements of doom, post-metal, avant-garde genres.
Drawing influences from the European cinema, art movements, and human experiences, Unverkalt’s music embraces a duality of darkness and romanticism, skillfully fusing the ache of emotional turmoil with the light of catharsis and redemption.
Established in 2017 by guitarist Themis Ioannou and vocalist Dimitra Kalavrezou in Athens, Greece, they were later joined by guitarist George Stamkos and started the recordings of their debut album “L’origine du Monde”, which was released in November 2020.
Shortly after the debut album’s release, Unverkalt entered the studio to record their second full-length studio album in Berlin, Germany. Bassist Spyros Olivotos joined the group in 2022, contributing to the final touches of the new album.
Titled “A Lump of Death: A Chaos of Dead Lovers”, this new effort will be released on October 20th via Argonauta Records and revolves around a theme that is grueling, powerful, and intense in all of its aspects.
This album’s specific plot is influenced by the 70’s and the flowering of the cult community, and the acts of criminals and serial killers at that time. Most of the lyrics are influenced from that period of modern society.
The upcoming record will leave an aftertaste of a vintage movie.
Consisting of seven hymns ”A Lump of Death: A Chaos of Dead Lovers” signifies the ultimate blend of post-metal, avant-garde, and alternative sound with a distinct cinematic character and an atmosphere inspired by the dark 1970s decade.
Black Nail Cabaret – The Eternal Might Of Death (not a Christmas release)
Hungarian electro-pop noir duo Black Nail Cabaret have just released the song ‘Autogenic’ as the first single from their forthcoming new album, ‘Chrysanthemum’.
“The term ‘autogenic’ means something that is created from itself and therefore coming from within,” states singer Emèse Árvai-Illes. “When you turn your mind to your body and listen deeply, you bring yourself back to the present moment. It is a form of self-hypnosis.”
‘Autogenic’ is accompanied by a video directed by Reka ‘Szuszu’ Szulagyi, which Árvai-Illes explains “represents a trip into a dream when images from the mind bubble up. It may be affection. It may be war. It may be beauty or fear. All these images just come and go. We are also paying homage to the imagery of the ‘90s as its cult classics, movies and music videos have left an immense imprint on us.”
Chrysanthemum’ is their sixth full-length record and is set for release on 1st March 2024. It will be promoted with a UK tour that takes in eight shows with Empathy Test:
04.04.23 MANCHESTER Rebellion
05.04.23 GLASGOW Classic Grand

The beautiful chrysanthemum derives its name from the Latin version of the ancient Greek χρυσάνθεμον, which translates as ‘gold flower’. Its humble white form is also known as the ‘cemetery flower’ as its longevity is often used to adorn graves, while for Black Nail Cabaret its blossom paves the way for our own deathbed portraits.
Musically, the duo have brought their outstanding songwriting ability closer to perfection, with ‘Chrysanthemum’ effortlessly blending dark electronic sounds with pop noir elements. That they have form in delivering strong compositions rather than merely relying on studio wizardry was recently proved with ‘Woodland Memoirs’ (2023), an album of BNC songs that were recorded acoustically and released as Black Nail Cabaret & Friends.
Although BNC are also remaining true to their marked penchant for sexually explicit provocation, the primal and subconscious fear of death that triggers emotions, anxiety and the fear of letting go is also a thread running through ‘Chrysanthemum’. Moreover, their eroticism has always sought to avoid cheap clichés; rather, they depict their living BDSM reality in artistic fashion framed by high aesthetic standards.
BNC self-released their 2018 fourth album ‘Pseudopop’, a record that successfully fused art, pop, dark harmonies and powerful electronics. It made an impressive mark on the electronic music scene in their home territory and received an international relaunch after its 2020 follow-up ‘Gods Verging On Sanity’ saw their reputation spread rapidly, even though the global pandemic enforced limitations upon them.
The stars have now fully aligned for BNC to take on the world with a dark soundtrack to life’s glory symbolised by a shiny white flower of seeming innocence that at closer inspection also carries the eternal might of death in its scent: ‘Chrysanthemum’.

Nervous Kids – Overcoming The Struggles
California Emo Punks Nervous Kids have released a new single “Back To the Start” out now via Wiretap Records.
The track is ahead of brand new EP out in early 2024.
Lead vocalist/guitarist Ryan DeMint of Nervous Kids says, “This is a song about experiencing emotional burnout. Doing everything in your power to overcome mental struggles but somehow always ended up right back at the start with nothing changing. I think this is a situation many can relate to, this song definitely helped me cope with that when I wrote it a few years back.”

Although the band didn’t officially form until the summer of 2022, the emo-punk project Nervous Kids began as a solo act during the COVID-19 lockdown of 2020. With live music making a comeback and mandates being lifted, the 4-piece came together with the lineup consisting of Ryan DeMint on lead vocals/guitar, Damian Morales on bass, Arturo Lara on guitar and Rodrigo Rosales on drums. The band’s music takes inspiration from both punk and emo, bringing high energy and fast tempos with lyrics that delve deep into human emotions, ranging from topics such as depression, love, heartbreak and trauma. Since the inception of the band, they have continued to play as many shows as possible around their hometown of southern california. In March of 2023, the band embarked on their first official studio session with producer Alex Estrada (Joyce Manor/Touché Amoré) and released their single ‘Anyone but You’ on June 27th.
Quickly garnering the attention of the team at Wiretap Records, the band is gearing up to release additional singles and a new EP out in Spring 2024. Follow the band on social and Spotify/ Apple Music to keep updated.

Dwarrowdelf – A New Beginning
If epic, soaring, melodic death metal or melodic black metal excites you, then you should look no further than the upcoming new album from Dwarrowdelf for one of THE albums of 2024.
The creative outlet of talented South Coast UK multi-instrumentalist Tom O’Dell, Dwarrowdelf will release new album “The Fallen Leaves” on February 2nd 2024.
The physical copies of the album will be released through Northern Silence Productions, with pre-orders available at the start of the new year. The album was written, produced and performed entirely by O’Dell (apart from a couple of guest appearances), and the album was recorded at Hair Force House Studios.
Full of intricate, soaring instrumental work, gigantic riffs, and a mixture of vocal styles, “The Fallen Leaves” is an album that will have much to be enjoyed for fans all across the metal spectrum.
The first single from “The Fallen Leaves” to be released is “This Shattered World”. A seven minute epic that shows off the full range and power of exactly what Dwarrowdelf are all about, “This Shattered World” is a perfect introduction to what The Fallen Leaves will offer.
“This Shattered World” is also available to stream on Spotify and stream on Apple Music.
Here’s Dwarrowdelf’s Tom O’Dell to explain more about “The Fallen Leaves”:
“Representing a new beginning for the Dwarrowdelf project, ‘The Fallen Leaves’ displays lyrical themes of sorrow, struggle, and grappling with reality. Taking further inspiration from the diverse blend of influences that drove 2021’s Cold Lie the Ashes yet cohesively retaining the trademark Dwarrowdelf sense of scale and atmosphere, this album truly sounds like nothing else.”
Dwarrowdelf – “The Fallen Leaves” Track Listing
1) “Within The Ashes, The Ember Still Burns”
2) “The Journey To Dawn”
3) “To Dust, We All Return”
4) “This Shattered World”
5) “Escape From The Dreamspire”
6) “Deliverance”
7) “The Fallen Leaves”
It may not surprise readers to learn that with the name of the band taken from Lord Of The Rings, much of the inspiration and source material for Dwarrowdelf’s music so far has come from the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. Tom himself mentioned that “The Fallen Leaves” marks a new chapter in Dwarrowdelf, and this is also true when it comes to source material.
Having focused on the works of Tolkien up to this point, the new album draws some lyrical inspiration from the Elden Ring video game, its immersive approach offering much in common to the world that Tolkien created many years before. Immersive is definitely a word that can also be used to describe “The Fallen Leaves”; Drawing listeners in to hold their undivided attention in that special way that the best creative works do, whether they are an album, a book or a video game.
For those not yet familiar with Dwarrowdelf, an excellent place to start is with their last full length album “Evenstar”. A full playlist of the record is available on YouTube on this link. Similarly, for a selection of tracks across the history of Dwarrowdelf since their inception in 2017, there is a handy Dwarrowdelf Essentials playlist available on Spotify.
Rosa Faenskap – More Than Just Hot Dogs And Eyeliner
In an audacious twist to the black metal scene, Fysisk Format Records is set to unleash the debut album “Jeg blir til deg” from Oslo’s own ROSA FAENSKAP on November 3rd, a trio that’s rewriting the rules of the genre.
Is ROSA FAENSKAP just a band? No, it’s a freaking revolution cloaked in music. They’re a vibrant contradiction to black metal’s dark, testosterone-fueled legacy, championing a world where queerness and equality aren’t just accepted but celebrated.
Think less corpse paint, more rainbows and eyeliner. Their sound? A high-octane blend of lightning-fast drums and melodic bass lines, all wrapped up in a guitar-led sonic dreamscape.
Hailing from Blitz, the famed cultural breeding ground of 80s legends like So Much Hate and Kafka Process, ROSA FAENSKAP are cultural warriors. Blending the raw energy of political hardcore with a kaleidoscope of black metal, post-rock, prog, and shoegaze, they craft a sound that’s at once beautiful and jarring. They’re the musical embodiment of mixing honey with vinegar – an audacious flavor that’s set to drive black metal purists to the very brink.
Jeg Blir Til Deg
The birth of ROSA FAENSKAP is as unconventional as their sound, born from a wild night in 2021. Guitarist Emil and bassist Håvard stumbled upon drummer Anders, out cold in a garbage can (we’ve all fucking been there), yet miraculously balancing a hot dog in each hand. “Right there we knew we’d found the perfect guy to handle the sticks” says Emil and Håvard. With Anders on the drums, ROSA FAENSKAP isn’t just a band – they’re a god damned force of nature, ready to take the world by storm.
