Following the release of their praised debut single âGet Back To Myselfâ Bedroom-pop newcomers Wynona return with a second taste of their expressive pop songwriting; âReal Worldâ.
A glimpse into a run of singles due in the coming months, âReal Worldâ was written amongst the in-between moments of a turbulent year for Natalie & Rich. Using free time amongst travelling to shows, getting caught in overnight changes to the tier system of the UK lockdown and living in a friendâs secluded, 19th century country house hotel in the Lake District; each of the forthcoming releases display Wynonaâs drive and determination in equal measure.
âWe had little on us, other than a change of clothes, a guitar and there was an antique grand piano in the hotel's music room. Looking out over the snow covered hills that surrounded us, and wandering the empty hotel at night, it really felt like something from The Shining.â explains vocalist Natalie. âWe were encouraged by a friend and the owner of the hotel to take some time and write and thatâs pretty much exactly what we did. Real World began life during this writing period.â
The pairâs second single displays a new, playful side to Wynona. Led by Natalieâs dulcet vocals and wistful, guitar-driven melodies, âReal Worldâ sees them poke fun at the cliches we are often forced into; as if itâs easier to dilute our personalities into a single label than be entirely ourselves.
Natalie continues, âOn âReal World' I'm celebrating all aspects of my personality, even though they can sometimes conflict and contradict one another. We all struggle with identity and authenticity, especially at a time when we put ourselves on display for all to see and for others to judge. This song is for anyone who feels like they donât fit into any perfect mould; it is okay to be anything, all things and nothing all at once.â
Now settled at home in the UK following a forced return from a life in Osaka, Japan â Wynona are partners Natalie & Rich. The pair began their sonic journey creating expressive, guitar-driven pop at their home studio in central Osaka; finding comfort and a sense of homeliness in their creative output as they began to feel isolated and homesick alone in a foreign country.
Upon their return to the UK, the release of debut single âGet Back To Myselfâ earlier this year has seen Wynona make their breakthrough to tips from an array of tastemaker titles including The Line of Best Fit and Beats Per Minute, priming them for a run of fresh material due to be released across the remainder of 2021.
