Lukas Nelson + POTR’s UK Headline Tour Begins Tonight in Oxford
GRAMMY & BAFTA Award-winning artist Lukas Nelson and his band POTR kick off their long-awaited return to the UK & Ireland this evening at Oxford’s O2 Academy 2; the first of nine headline shows along with a main stage appearance at Black Deer Festival this weekend (June 18) alongside Steve Earle, Bonnie Raitt, and Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats.
Nelson is preparing for the release of his new album Sticks and Stones, due for release on July 14 via 6ACE Records/Thirty Tigers (pre-save/pre-order here).
Fans can already listen to two brand new songs from the album: the “bright, rollicking country-rock anthem” (Rolling Stone), ‘Alcohallelujah‘, and lead single, ‘More Than Friends‘, featuring CMA and ACM Award-winning artist, Lainey Wilson.
This follows a packed week in Nashville during CMA Fest, during which he appeared with Wilson for multiple performances of their duet, including on the legendary Grand Ole Opry stage, and joined Marty Stuart at the iconic Ryman Auditorium for the 20th anniversary of his annual Late Night Jam.
Nelson also recently wrapped up a spring headline tour with numerous sold-out shows and performed at The Hollywood Bowl as part of “Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90, A Star-Studded Concert Celebrating Willie’s 90th Birthday” last month; and following the UK tour will return to the USA to perform at Madison Square Garden with Tedeschi Trucks Band, among other dates.
Discussing Sticks and Stones exclusively with The Sun, Nelson shared, “it’s very biographical, it goes from my party days and then, as you see, the content of the music changes over the course of the record.”
