Unredeemer, the ingenious brainchild birthed from the musical mastermind Pekka Paasikivi, emerges like a phoenix of sonic brilliance.
With a mischievous twinkle in their eyes, Paasikivi and his trusty comrade Mikka “Nisu” Niskaala embarked on a quest to assemble a lineup that would make the rock gods themselves weak in the knees.
Their relentless pursuit led them to stumble upon the extraordinary talents of Saša Pul, who, in a stroke of fate, found their way to Finland and replied to a humble ad on a local webpage seeking a vocalist. Talk about serendipity!
As the band’s sound began to take shape, fate decided to have a bit of fun with them. The global events of 2020 came crashing down like an unwanted encore, halting their momentum just when they were hitting their stride. Not to be discouraged, the band valiantly pressed on, determined to find the perfect rhythm section to complete their ensemble. It was as if the universe wanted to play a game of musical chairs.
But fear not, for Unredeemer would not be silenced! They summoned the rhythmic prowess of Tuomo Ijäs, known for his thunderous work with Bloody Heathen, to lay down the beats on their enchanting “4-19-23” EP. And just when they thought they had it all figured out, Jari Parkkinen of Kathrash fame joined them as a session bassist, adding a touch of magic to their sonic tapestry.
The band’s journey continued with a cosmic twist. In 2021, Iain Huntley arrived all the way from the wild terrains of Australia to claim the coveted bass throne as a permanent member. With their newfound stability, Unredeemer set their sights on their next musical conquest. But alas, the pandemic’s lingering uncertainty and the absence of a vibrant gig scene gave them a “rock ‘n’ roll pause” moment, causing them to question their path.
Yet, true rock warriors never surrender! In the spring of 2022, they harnessed the creative energy of Juoni Kurikka behind the drums to record their masterpiece, “Word Become Flesh” (notice the cheeky spelling there). But the musical gods couldn’t resist one last twist of fate. The original drummer, Jani Tossavainen, made a triumphant return, signaling the band’s revival and paving the way for their long-awaited (local) gigs.
Finally, in December 2022, Unredeemer unleashed their sonic hurricane upon the world with the release of “Word Become Flesh,” preceded by the tantalizing single “Shewolf and an Oak” and an accompanying music video that had fans both headbanging and chuckling with delight.
With members hailing from different corners of the globe—Pekka, Nisu, and Jani representing various regions of Finland, Iain bringing his Aussie charm, and Saša adding a touch of Croatian flair—their diversity of backgrounds fuels the fire of their creativity. And while they may come from different walks of life, they are all united by their shared passion for delivering a jaw-dropping force and an electric energy that reverberates through their music and electrifying live shows.
So, prepare to be captivated by the sonic wizardry of Unredeemer as they weave their spell and leave you craving for more. Rock the f@£ck on!
