Bobbyy is a producer, drummer and DJ based in Los Angeles.
Known for his work with the acclaimed US West Coast experimental jazz collective High Pulp, as well as the duo sunking, 2024 has seen Bobbyy stepping out as a solo artist.
His recent debut album, ‘Buckets’, incorporates elements of Chicago House a la Larry Heard, alongside raw, sample-based production reminiscent of Madlib or Daedelus.
Having recently teamed up with US producer/musicians Galcher Lustwerk and Ben Hixon for remixes of the album songs ‘Thence I Arrived On A Foreign Shore’ (featuring Pink Siifu and Stas THEE Boss)and ‘It Knows The Bliss Is Treacherous’ respectively, Bobbyy now joins forces with gum.mp3 for a remix of ‘I Was At The Fence’ (featuring Rachel Lime), the final instalment of the album campaign.
Based in Baltimore, gum.mp3 is known for fusing dance music with elements of funk and jazz. Here, he transforms the original trance/shoegaze-tinged track into a chilled jungle anthem, with liquid breaks and raindrop synths underpinning the angelic, almost whispered voice of New Yorker Lime.
UK acclaim for ‘Buckets’ has come from publications such as Echoes & Dust and Cosmic Jazz, while tracks from the album have received airplay on BBC 6 Music.
