Absinthe Green began in 2016 as a personal project of songwriter and producer Eirini ‘Absinthe Green’ in Dortmund, Germany.
The completion of the songs for the debut album coincided with a move back to Greece in late 2019, where Absinthe was joined by drummer Harry Mason, bassist Villy Pirris, and herself on vocals and guitar, transforming the project into a full-fledged band. Panos Economakis was the latest addition, fulfilling the band’s line-up by assuming guitar duties, completing the ensemble.
Genres blur and definitions falter when it comes to Absinthe Green. Whether you call them alternative metal, hard rock, or something else entirely, their music is a rich tapestry of influences and life experiences. A critic once described them as “a melodic storm of beauty and heartbreak, both ferocious and tender.” Soul-stirring vocals shift seamlessly between power and fragility, while skilful guitar work and infectious grooves underpin melodies that cut straight to the core. Absinthe’s song-writing is raw and unflinching, revealing deep truths about love, pain, and redemption. Their lyrics explore life’s duality, where joy and sorrow, hope and despair coexist in an ever-shifting dance. The band’s debut album, Of Love and Pain, produced by renowned producer Hiili Hiilesmaa, will be released in 2025. It ventures into the contradictions of the human experience, where destruction and creation, light and darkness, merge in a symphony of emotional depth and power.

“Same Old Fire is about the struggle between longing and loss, the way old wounds and fears can haunt us. It captures the ache of losing something once so bright, yet still feeling its flames burning cold. It’s a raw, personal reflection on lo dreams, and the things we let slip away. This song was originally intended to be a duet with Warrel Dane (Nevermore, Sanctuary), who was not only a friend and teacher but also a muse to me. His passing made it impossible to bring the song to life as planned, and his absence is deeply felt in every note. I tend to write from pain, and this is yet another song born from that place, an attempt to make sense of the emptiness and the fire that still burns” – Eirini ‘Absinthe Green’
