Known for his contributions to the renowned West Coast experimental jazz group High Pulp and the duo sunking, Bobbyy’s first solo album, ‘Buckets’, is now available. This album blends the essence of Chicago House, inspired by legends like Larry Heard, with raw, sample-based production reminiscent of artists such as Madlib and Daedelus.
To accompany the release, a video for the track ‘It Knows The Bliss Is Treacherous’ has been unveiled. The Stranger magazine praises the song for its “keyboard swirls beneath sensuous, intricate beats,” highlighting its seductive charm. The entire album ‘Buckets’ exudes this sultry vibe, with subtle whispers and enticing rhythms. A remix by Galcher Lustwerk is also set to be released soon.
Prior to the album, two singles were released. ‘I Was At The Fence’ showcases Bobbyy’s ability to craft smooth R&B tunes, featuring delicate vocals by Rachel Lime. The next single, ‘Thence I Arrived On A Foreign Shore’, features sultry raps by Pink Siifu & Stas THEE Boss, blending ’90s Chicago House influences with contemporary, syrupy synthesizers, perfectly capturing the laidback summer mood.
