Bobbyy is a producer, drummer and DJ based in Los Angeles.
Born Bobby Granfelt, he is best known for his work with the acclaimed US West Coast experimental jazz collective High Pulp and the electro/hip-hop duo sunking, but 2024 sees Bobbyy stepping out as a solo artist with ‘Buckets’, his eclectic debut solo album.
In part an homage to his deep love and understanding of music history, ‘Buckets’ incorporates elements of Chicago House a la Larry Heard, alongside raw, sample-based production reminiscent of Madlib or Daedelus, all the while basking in 808s.
‘Thence I Arrived On A Foreign Shore’ has been released as the second single from the album today. Featuring US rap/HipHop artists Pink Siifu & Stas THEE Boss, they bless a track inspired by ’90s Chicago House with modern syrup-dripped synthesisers, its laidback vibe heralding the early arrival of summer.
It follows ‘I Was At The Fence’ [STREAM], a collaboration between Bobbyy and long-time friend Rachel Lime issued in March. Bobbyy has also recently released ‘Sway’, a non-album collaboration with South Florida rapper Blvck Svm.
In the wild, Bobbyy can be found spinning boogie records on a sunny afternoon or DJing breaks and footwerk at your favourite night club.
