Das Moöse, the self proclaimed “Greatest Heavy Metal Band In Park Slope,”
Das Moöse has harnessed the sound of heavy metal/punk fused with jam band stylings to craft a sound all their own. Hailing from the savage stoops of brownstone Brooklyn, Das Moöse has become a neighborhood favorite with their powerful live performances and funny, hard-hitting songs.
Singer/guitarist Adam Dubin brings his ample experience from playing in The Stoned and filming multiple music legends (Metallica, Beastie Boys) to the forefront with Das Moöse. His style blends the raw energy of the Ramones and the epic riffs of Led Zeppelin, with a dash of comic timing for good measure.
Singer/guitarist Joel Bloom leans into his jam band influences, bringing a loose, good-time vibe to the band’s hard-hitting repertoire.
Drummer Drew Haase is the cool hand behind the drum kit, driving the songs with a powerful and commanding pace.
Rounding out the rhythm section on bass, Rob Kassabian delivers a fluid, melodic attack that completes the band’s dynamic sound.
Their debut album, Moösehenge, is a potent witch’s brew of heavy metal and punk rock, spiced with southern twang and soulful melody.
Das Moöse’s influences range from legendary riff-mongers like the Ramones, Motörhead, and Monster Magnet to jam icons like the Grateful Dead and Phish.
The lead single, “DEATH, DEATH, DEATH AND MORE DEATH,” decries gun violence with the same force it hits—like a slug from a .45. The song starts with the sound of a black hole (released by NASA in 2022) and races forward like a piledriver from start to finish.
The second single, “JINGLEHEIM,” is a meditation on a young life lost too soon. Its graceful melody and slowly building rhythm reveal the band’s impressive versatility.
The third single, “TRACTION PARK MASSACRE (DON’T CRY FOR ME),” is a loving throwback to the Ramones and will accompany the upcoming horror movie Traction Park Massacre, co-directed by Adam Dubin. Guitar legend Alex Skolnick of Testament plays keyboards on the track and appears in the upcoming music video.
Das Moöse began in 2019 when Adam, Joel, Drew, and Rob met in a rehearsal room in Park Slope to jam. The band members were neighborhood friends who had met through their school-aged kids. “We were already drinking buddies who loved music,” says Dubin, “so we just started playing together.” They quickly progressed from cover tunes to writing their own songs. Their first public performance was at Brooklyn’s well-known metal bar, Lucky 13 Saloon. “We packed the place. We went on first and had more people than the headliners. We killed it!” Dubin recalls. They continued to pack the house at every subsequent show.
Along the way, Das Moöse played backyard parties on Long Island, with families and kids running around and swimming in the pool. These annual events were named after popular music festivals, like Moösestock and Burning Moöse. In the summer of 2023, they played on the beach in Quogue, NY, at an event dubbed Bonnamoöse. Still, the band’s heart remains in Brooklyn, where they formed.
By 2022, the band had written enough original songs to make an album. Guitarist Alex Skolnick recommended engineer Nik Chinboukas, and the band headed to SPIN Recording Studios in Long Island City to lay down tracks. Moösehengewas recorded with the band jamming together live, adding overdubs only as needed. “We wanted an organic feel, like the records we grew up on. Nik helped us get that sound—he’s amazing,” says Dubin.
Das Moöse is proud as hell to release nine original songs. This ain’t no dad band. This ain’t no disco. This ain’t no fooling around.
