Film Screening: Eat and Restaurant, Dir. Andy Warhol
19:30 at The Regent Street Cinema, 309 Regent St, London W1B 2UW
Programme time: 78 mins
To coincide with the exhibition Feast for the Eyes, join us for a unique screening of Andy Warhol’s Eat (1963) and Restaurant (aka L’Avventura) (1965)
Eat captures the simple act of a man eating mushrooms in a one-man show starring Robert Indiana in a single 35-minute shot.
Restaurant is a moving still life, opening with a tight shot of a chequered tablecloth. Off camera conversations, and the appearance of Warhol superstars like Edie Sedgwick, form this 34-minute film documenting a staged dinner in a New York restaurant.
Organised with The Regent Street Cinema as part of an ongoing partnership exploring the relationship between photography and film.
£13/£11 members & concessions. The Photographers Gallery Members should book the ‘Associate cardholders’ rate at Regent St Cinema.
