Buddy Curtess & The Grasshoppers first formed in 1983 and quickly became known for their incredible live shows, with Time Out naming them âBest Live Bandâ for two years running.
Tours followed with Roy Orbison, The Beach Boys, The Cure
and The Stranglers to name but a few. Playing over 250 gigs a year including The Princeâs Trust at Wembley Arena and the main stage at Glastonbury Festival in 1986 (with a live BBC Radio 1 broadcast), which has been featured again recently as part of BBC Radio 6 Live âSoundsâ.
The live performances attracted attention from TV shows and the band appeared on The Tube, Saturday Night Live, Jools Hollandâs Hogmanay, Razzamatazz, Saturday Super Store and were the resident band for Ruby Waxâs Donât Miss Wax on Channel 4.
Record deals with Phonogram Records saw the release of Hello Suzie, Shout and Shoobee Baby as singles, the latter reaching the top 40 in the UK charts.
