Rock stalwarts GUN have today dropped their latest, red hot single; a sleazy, easy groove titled “Boys Don’t Cry”.
A testimony to the glory of hard, loud rock, the single is taken from the Scottish squad’s forthcoming new album, āHombresā, set for release on 12th April 2024 via Cooking Vinyl.
Declared “some of their best songs since Gallus!” by Iron Maiden’s Steve Harris, it is the first album of all new music from the group since 2017ās āFavourite Pleasuresā, which entered the UK official album chart at #16.
Vocalist Dante Gizzi comments of the track:
“Boys Don’t Cry is a song about those people who are steeped in a delusion of superiority; they strut through life expecting the world to shower them with favours, oblivious to the reality that humility and genuine effort pave the path to true accomplishment.”Ā
The track is available on all streaming platforms now. Watch its official lyric video here.
The thirteen tracks on āHombresā were recorded and produced by Simon Bloor (Trevor Horn) with mixing by Daryl Thorpe (Foo Fighters) at Morsecode Studios and Strongroom Studio. The record boasts guest vocals from Beverley Skeete (Elton John, Chaka Khan, Tom Jones, Johnny Cash), Mary Pearce (Primal Scream, Lionel Ritchie, Chaka Khan) and Sarah-Jane Skeete (Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Bill Wyman) of The Sisterhood on several tracks, as well as a guest performance on the drums from Joe Lazerus of Twin Atlantic.
The album is available in multiple formats as both standard and deluxe editions, including on CD, vinyl, and digitally. Pre-order now here. Ā For an exclusive, limited Blood Records vinyl variant, click here.
Dante adds: āGun have been around for a long time. Weāve done a lot. Weāve released a lot of music. But in some ways it feels like weāre just getting started. Weāve already started writing songs for the next record. We donāt ever want to leave it so long again. This is what we do. We need this band. The pandemic taught us that.ā
“I think this record did save us,ā declares guitarist Giuliano āJoolsā Gizzi. āBut now I just want to get out there and play the songs to the fans. Not to waste any more time. People need music. They need to dance and have fun. Weāve all suffered too much. Let the good times roll!ā
