Tormentas Malsanas’ is the second LP from Las Nubes, a Thurston Moore, Iggy Pop, and Calvin Johnson-endorsed multilingual Garage Pop / Shoegaze / Dream Pop band.
Founded by Ale Campos (Iggy Pop’s guitarist) and Emile Milgrim (sound designer and co-founder of Miami Girls Rock Camp), two queer women based in Miami, where they are also heavily involved in musical education, empowering young girls, and the noise scene.
Their work has been praised by Brooklyn Vegan, NPR (Alt.Latino), Rolling Stone, KEXP, KCRW, BBC 6 Music, Post-Trash, Calvin Johnson (K Records), The Alternative, Under the Radar, and Talkhouse, while the band was recently #1 in both Hype Machine charts.
Thurston Moore’s label released the album’s lead single and Iggy Pop penned the album’s cover sticker (they previously backed Iggy live as the first all-female lineup of The Stooges). ‘Tormentas Malsanas’ is out now on vinyl, CD, and cassette.
“Tormentas Malsanas is a culmination of personal experiences I had firsthand or felt secondhand through the lives of my close friends and relatives over the span of five years. The feelings brought on by these experiences were charged, sometimes stagnant and unforgiving, much like the summers here in South Florida. When it comes to expressing these personal narratives I always felt that articulating them through the lens of nature was something that anyone could feel a connection to. A lot of these songs were written at a time when it felt like the world was going to end, which also presents a feeling of longing to return to something ‘normal.’” – Ale Campos (Guitar / Vocals)
