Tyketto Ignites the O2 Academy with a Dizzying Blend of Authenticity and Rock’n’Roll Panach
In the cavernous belly of the O2 Academy Islington, a triumvirate of rock deities descended upon us, but amongst the pantheon, one titan reigned supreme – the invincible Tyketto.
As the first chords of “Reach” reverberated through the awe-struck audience, Danny Vaughn – the embodiment of charisma and fervour – commandeered our senses. His proclamation, “Let’s make some noise!” echoed like a thunderclap, acting as the catalyst for a musical earthquake that shook the very core of the venue.
Vaughn stood tall, exuding a cocktail of supreme confidence and humility – a Zeus amongst mortals, basking in their adoration while expressing his gratitude"
Tyketto, a quintet of virtuosos, wove a flawless symphony of sound. Harry Scott Evans, a veritable wizard with his guitar, took centre stage. Amidst the music, the whirl of hair – a frenetic symphony of follicles – from Danny and Harry was a sight to behold, adding a theatrical flamboyance to the already heady mix.
The engine room of Chris Childs (also of Thunder fame) on bass and Johnny Dee on drums created an unwavering rhythm foundation as strong as the Pillars of Hercules, while Ged Rylands worked his keys like a puppet master, every note pulling at our heartstrings.
And then, there was Danny’s voice – an auditory tempest of power, resonance, and laser-like precision. The three-part harmonies, evocative of an angelic choir, led by Danny, Harry, and Ged, were simply spellbinding.
“Wings,” the second act of the rock opera, saw Danny relinquish his guitar to unfurl a vocal powerhouse of emotion, stirring the audience into a tidal wave of singing, each voice a testament to Tyketto’s influence.
“Burning Down Inside” descended upon us, a maelstrom of raw emotion wrapped in a synthesised cocoon, while the fervent audience chanted back lyrics as if reciting a beloved prayer.
It was a night of unmatched grandeur, an echo of their audacious spirit reverberating in every corner"
“Strength in Numbers” was a potent concoction of drama and allure, underscored by seismic drum beats. Vaughn stood tall, exuding a cocktail of supreme confidence and humility – a Zeus amongst mortals, basking in their adoration while expressing his gratitude.
The call to arms in “Lay Your Body Down” elicited a tsunami of standing bodies, the energy humming in the air as if charged by a thousand volts. High kicks from Harry peppered the scene with an infectious ebullience.
A reverential nod to Danny and Dee’s first band, Waysted, came in the form of “Heaven Tonight,” a power ballad as intoxicating as an old whiskey found in the far recesses of the liquor cabinet, with melodies interweaving into an opulent tapestry of sound, leaving the audience breathless and clamouring for more.
And then, the grand finale, “Forever Young,” the crescendo to the electrifying symphony that was Tyketto’s performance. The anthem resonated through the venue and pieced our very being, an irresistible force that drew the audience into a state of frenzied delight.
Tyketto’s show was a dizzying blend of authenticity and rock’n’roll panache. This was not merely a performance, but a blinding flash that left an indelible imprint on the hallowed halls of the O2 Academy. It was a night of unmatched grandeur, an echo of their audacious spirit reverberating in every corner, a testament to the power of music to stir the soul. This was Tyketto. And this night, this moment, will live on in our heads and our hearts.
