MANCHESTER INDIE BOY BAND VALA ANNOUNCE RELEASE OF EP FISHING GOD FEATURING BRAND NEW SINGLE CHANGE YOUR MIND (I JUST WANNA).
VALA return with their follow up EP to last years’ I Love The Sound. Previous singles from the new record have already gained radio-play across the BBC, including BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Amazing Radio and ‘track of the week’ on XS Manchester. The singles so far have gained over 400k streams on Spotify and received praise from publications like So Young Magazine and Baby Steps.
A true labour of love, Fishing God is the culmination of a lot of hard toil and ideas that the band
have been shaping and stitching together according to frontman Joe Knowles:
“It feels great to be putting out the full EP after first single Bleed Together blew up towards the end of last year. The tunes are so concise and it feels like a series of sketches showing how we’ve been feeling whilst not overthinking any element. It feels fresh and current as we haven’t been sit-
ting on the songs for a long time”.
The record’s highlight is upcoming single Change Your Mind (I Just Wanna), a carefree indie bop
with sleek riffs that came together like magic: “Change Your Mind is one of the quickest songs
we’ve ever put together from writing to the final master. I started writing it one morning after we’d released our previous single On The Getaway over a drum loop that Matt had sent and within a couple of weeks Alex layered his guitar parts and we’d sent it off for mastering.”
Dropping on April 10th 2024, VALA’s Fishing God is packed with the indie pop energy and feel
good vibes that the band have become synonymous with.
